Poll Lets end this today, are 343 industries good enough devs for Halo? (59 votes)

Yes 31%
No 51%
Halo sucks 19%

I'm tired of seeing my favourite Halo getting blasted left and right from release of MCC collection (Buggy) to upcoming Infinite. Halo was king (Top tier) till Reach. I'm calling it, 343 are not Bungie. They are not bad devs but Bungie should've continued with Halo saga. Its painful to see Masterchief/Halo become a meme today thanks to lack of vision from 343 industries.

I love Bungie and loved Bungie's Halo till Reach. 343 are not competent enough to've made Halo new saga's.

Discuss.

Was never a Halo fan growing up, only started playing MCC on PC recently. From what I can gather, Bungie was very passionate about the franchise, while 343 just tries to mimic what a good Halo game should be. The Halo Infinite trailer was lame though, so this may be a sinking ship. Hopefully not.

The last Halo was quite good. The only problem was the over reliance on alien weapons. Aside from that I enjoyed it.

Halo 4 was OK but the campaign was very forgettable and the new enemies were essentially just reskinned Convenient without being genuinely different.

Halo 5 was an absolute mess. I mean they had a great premise in having a bunch of spartans hunt down MC thinking he was a bad guy but they did not take advantage of it at all. And it didn't help that said spartans were the blandest of characters you couldn't get behind in the slightest. They should have had you playing as MC the entire time on the run from this group while also trying to accomplish your actual mission, That would have been more interesting and suspenseful.

It’s kind of hard to tell. My hypotheses is that they were given stupid orders from MS. I think MS told them to create an open world game at native 4k, 60 fps that would also run on xbox one.

With those constraints it‘s probably close to impossible to create something that looks mind blowing graphically.

I have a feeling that, yes, they are good enough but are perhaps not being managed well.

i just don't think the stars will align for them and halo.

pre halo 4 they were just a tiny studio, when they started recruiting for h4 development they didn't tell candidates what game they were interviewing to work on, and hired people who "hated" halo in the hope they would come in with an attitude to help improve the franchise.

that's a risky hiring strategy imo, and a shaky foundation to build a company on. i don't play mp so can't comment on that but i can say improvements have just not happened from a sp perspective. reach was the last decent halo campaign. i'd love infinite to be great but don't hold out much hope from their track record and everything we've seen / heard so far

What does 4 & 5 score say?

What did they score on the oracle that is Metacritic?

Your answer lies in a simple search

You live by the scores, you die by the scores

No, but they're good enough to create mictrotransaction skins for the game, tho. Stick to what you know best, 363i. Become what RARE was for a while. Create skins and call it a day 🤢

Halo always sucked. 343 can become the best developers in the world but they won't pull in the same players as prior Halo's. Casuals who used to play Halo now play CoD.

Halo 1 was ok. Its almost old school as PC title with no sprint, no health regen ( yes Halo 1 had healthpacks but only sheild regenerated), no QTE or any hand holding sequence we see in todays third person games and COD clones.

It was 7/10 title. not Half life or STALKER but ok.

Halo 2 introduce regen health and SP tack backseat and series ruined.

Yes I think they are good enough, but I think they're being bogged down attempting to get MCC on PC while trying to get Halo Infinite out there as well. I know there is supposed to be another studio helping with that but I can't imagine 343 isn't involved a great deal.

Did that really happen? Why didn't people call out 343 bungie championships used to be huge.

@ProtossRushX: It 100% happened. And some people called it out, but because of the state of Halo, even in 2017, most people didn’t care. You have games like Fortnite, DOTA, League etc selling out arenas while Halo can’t fill up a house...

I grew up with Halo from the beginning of Xbox and Bungie hit a goldmine from the series from start to end. All the halo games from the Bungie era are all awesome but Halo CE has aged well. When 343 Industry took over, Halo 4 campaign was okay, to say the least but the MP became a Call of Duty clone and I hated that. Halo 5 campaign was freaking awful but the MP this time around was really good. Overall, 343 lacks Bungie's vision for the series but nevertheless, I'm still excited for Halo Infinite and the gameplay looks solid enough for me to give'em another shot at it. Just make the gameplay fun is all I ask.

If thats the case then 343i has to go. If you can't fill a house with people for a championship event your just keeping the game on life support at that point. 343 is not pumping new life into this game its losing too many fans.

Either way, this is the last straw for 343. If Halo: Infinite blows, I will not play another 343 Halo game until I get hired by MS and dismantle whatever the hell they think Halo is from the inside (I'm actually not kidding about this, 343 often recruits from my program, it's a real possibility that I could work there at some point).

But this is it. They acknowledged that people weren't happy with Halo 5, and it seems like they're at least trying to make Inifnite feel like Halo again, but I'm already seeing signs that they don't quite get it. They're bringing back a lot of the classic tracks and themes from the Bungie Halo's, but while the main Halo theme being spun into an epic warrior chant for the main villain, that is absolutely not what that theme is used for in Halo.

This is not knocking the soundtrack, by the way, for everything about Infinite that is underwhelming, the game's composers are absolutely slaying on the new tracks.

I thought they did a great job with Halo 4, but dropped the ball with Halo 5.

So Infinite is their last chance in my eyes. I really hope they can do justice to Halo again. If not, I think MS need to seriously consider a big reshuffle at 343.

Halo infinite devs are amateurs with no talent that already spent 500 mill usd.

cyberpunk 2077 costs around 121 mill USD Vs. unfinished Halo infinite 500 mill USD

I'm not saying they can't make a good game, but I wouldn't pre-order Infinite. After the broken mess of MCC, the lackluster halo 4 game and the mess that was the halo 5 campaign, I don't have faith in them to deliver. I really hope they show up with a great game though. At one point halo was one of my favorite franchises.

I think they are mismanaged and have finally ridden Bungie's coattails and the Halo name to it's unfortunate demise.

Would like to see them try their hand at a fresh IP before I completely condemn them, however.

What do you mean reshuffle? Shouldn't they close them down if they can't make a good game?

Maybe pass the torch to a different studio or rehire bungie there is so many other options I could see doing a reshuffle probably won't do anything, the devs just suck

Only 343 employees and paid shills Archangel and Antwan would say yes. 343 killed every bit of cultural relevance Halo had and turned it into a literal meme.

No they don't "suck", as I said, Halo 4 is a great game (and was very well received). So they are capable of making great games. And Halo 5 had terrific MP (I'm more of a SP guy but from what I heard, the MP is fantastic). So again, they are capable.

If Infinite turns out to be average, then a management restructure at the studio could be beneficial. Get some new blood in there with some fresh ideas, and also maybe put people like Joseph Staten there full time to right the ship and focus the team again.

But anyway, Infinite could turn out to be great. I hope 343 take another year and polish things up and hopefully that's all the game needs.

So you are able to ”parrot” any morsel of negative speculation about the PS5, but youre holding your judgement until you play infinite? Even after the absolute disgrace of a demo they recently showed?

The latest campaigns with Halo 4 and Halo 5 were both underwhelming, but the multiplayer was on point. Spartan Ops was pretty decent cooperative mode, but definitely was no Firefight. 343 is no Bungie, but they're trying.

Yes, i think 343 Industries are good enough ... MS on the other hand is the one destroying the franchise by imposing bad ideas and impossible deadlines.

Don't forget these hacks couldn't port the old Halo's to Xbone without shitting the bed. Then they waited 4 years to clean up their mess,
