Let us all remember what is perhaps the best platformer of the decade (56k)

the platforming genre has fallen onto a hard slump over the past generation. But let us remember one star that truly shines amongst all the all the other great platformers this decade. (yes I know that last line was terrible)

I Wanna Be The Guy is a platformer hell bent on making the player cry.

IDC what anyone says, SMG is a 10.

SMG is what gaming is all about. Genius level design, the best platforming mechanics, charming levels and characters, etc. Truly a masterpiece.

I really want to get this game.

Bah, remembering it makes me want to play it. Which makes me realize I haven't bought it. Which makes me pissed a game from 2007 is still $60 where I live.

Super Mario Galaxy was an amazing experience. Just beat it yesterday (after finally having played the game two weeks before) and it made me laugh, it made me angry (when I lost :p) - it just elicited a ton of responses from me which not even my Game of the year (Dragon Age) did. Overall, just an amazing game and I can't wait to play the sequel. Definitely one of the greatest platformers I've ever played (along with Super Mario World and Super Mario World 2).

Meh. I found the game boring. I had more fun with super paper mario world since it actually had funny characters and story. Which made the experiance better. In other words I cant agree on that.

Superb gameplay, genius level design and fantastic music makes SMG one of, if not the best games this gen.

On this there can be no argument.

I thought the last thread proved unequivocally that Sonic Unleashed for the Xbox 360 was the best platformer.

I'll be getting a Wii sometime soon for The Legend of Zelda Wii. Then I shall enjoy the greatness that is Super Mario Galaxy. I played the first couple levels and it was a great game; I can only imagine what the rest of the game will be like.

And then Metroid: Other M and Super Mario Galaxy 2? That Wii will be getting a lot of time when I purchase it.

Best 3d platformer? Maybe. But definetly not best platformer.

I must be one of the few who was incredibly bored with SMG. Couldn't shake the feeling that if the game wasn't part of the Mario franchise, it would have a very small fanbase, and wouldn't have scored too well.
