If its anything to go by Shenmue 3 will be a killer app for the Quad.

An HD remake for current consoles should happen.

Depends on who makes it. Shenmue even on Dreamcast was a huge game to make and needed a huge budget. Now with better technology they can execute the gameplay beautifully but it won't be cheap. Especially if we want Shenmue 3 in the same caliber as 1 and 2 with today's tech. Didn't they say that it was already in the works thanks to Kickstarter?

Yea, its a great game.

I remember rushing hope after school and work every day to play it......and i was 17 at the time.

The second its pretty good as well, both desperately need HD remakes.

Shenmue 3 is definitely coming to XB1 though, its already coming to PC

Shenmue 3 needs a budget of over 100m probably to reach its true vision.

It's my favorite Sega series. I really hope they release the first two games in HD on PS4 and PC before the third game comes out. It would allow people new to the series to catch up the right way.

Well a lot of evidence points to XB1 release.

1. It was a kickstart, not funded by Sony
2. Not published by Sony
3. 6m isnt enough to completely fund the game, it was probably used to raise more capital.
4. Shenmue has always lost money, theyll definitely want to maximize profits.
5. Microsoft was the only publisher willing to invest in bringing Dreamcast games to Xbox when Dreamcast went down.
6. Shenmue 2 on Xbox
7. Sega was almost sold to MS in 2002
8. Sega owns IP, great partners with MS
9. Creator teased Xbox One release.

What's that about a quad?

Shenmue 1 was amazing, I played it in one sitting on the Dreamcast when it came out. I'm not sure about now though, I guess it wouldn't of ages very well.

Hope they put out a new release for the game, so people can play the old games on new hardware.

@navyguy21: Of your list of reasons, I'll give you 1, 2 and 9. The rest is meaningless. That said, I hope it comes out on X1 as well. It would provide more revenue and create a larger fanbase. The more money it makes and the more fans the series has, the more likely a 4th and hopefully final entry in the series will become.

That depends on the visual quality they're aiming for. They'd need 100m for PS4 quality, but only 10m for Dreamcast quality.

I gave possible reasons, you are free to disagree.

Fact is close business relationships DO play a factor in exclusivity or what platforms get games.

Not to mention MS continually invests in the company.

Its highly unlikely that a Sega console game wont be on a MS console unless it is a JRPG in Japan.

I think it won't release on the XB1 and here's why, Sony is paying for the marketing of the game, which to me means they're paying for console exclusivity, or if it does then it will be at the very least a 1yr deal like the Tomb Raider deal MS had with SquareEnix.

Either way 6 million to me is nowhere near enough to make a great Shenmue 3 experience, which to me is fucking sad because i love most of Sega's franchises growing up with the Shenmue series being in my top 5.

In the end i hope i'm wrong and Shenmue 3 kicks arse and is a worthy game to an already great franchise.

Im watching the GIant Bomb guys play it and even though they're bad at it its reminded me just how full of dumb shit and awful Shenmue is. I loved it as a kid but this game has aged poorly and has pretty much everything I hate about gaming now.

The game still is good, Played it for the first time, my only major complaint are the controls take a while to get used to.

Other than the atmosphere and interactivity is better than a lot of games even today.

@navyguy21: Only reason i disagreed with you on some of the points, is because i thought that you were thinking that Sega has anything to do with the game and they don't, so their working relationship with MS means nothing in this instance.

The fact that an XB1 version hasn't been officially announced speaks volumes, and Sony are not spending who knows how much money on "marketing" the game out of the goodness of their heart. I believe there is a deal in there somewhere.

Like you said though we will have to wait and see how this evolves.

The GiantBomb guys are pretty depressing to watch. It's rare to see them get excited. While the GameTrailers staff were freaking out over The Last Guardian, FFVII Remake, and Shenmue III, the GiantBomb guys looked bored.

I have it and Shenmue 2 which is BC for my 360. I like it, but it is tough to go back to now. The controls suck turds from Humpback whale anus. The voice acting is hilarious but it is a fun game. Will start 2 soon.

Disagree. The Shenmue Endurance Run has been entertaining despite the game being trash.

I hope they have enough budget to make the game they want to make with Shenmue 3.

Still my all time most beloved game franchise, I cannot wait for III.

I'll be getting Shenmue 3 on PC that is for sure.
