I have not yet entered this gen due to financial reasons. But now i have the money to make my purchase. but i am not sure if i am getting into this gen too late at least for the 360. my question is does the 360 still have alot of fuel in the tank or is it going to struggle in the near future?

I'd say it's safer to go for the PS3, because

1) Online is free there, you don't have to pay yearly fees or anything

2) Xbox 360 breaks down much more frequently (Google Red Ring of Death)

It really depends on the games you want. As of right now, I regret purchasing a 360. I badly want to play MGS4 and so now I want a PS3. However, I'm holding on to the hope that the 360 version of GTA4 will be better than the PS3. Decisions, decisions.

Well the 360 will most likely have better graphics due to the fact that most multiplats look better on 360, also GTA4 was originally developed for the 360, also the 360 has extra content!

1) Online on the 360 is an experience.....that's why it costs.PSN doesnt even compete...

2) The new ones doesnt break as much as the old ones.

Well the 360 has a great line up for 2008 just as the ps3 does!

Also the 360 has a much better online gaming experiance so some people dont mind paying for that.

well i agree if he wants alot of RPGS GET 360 if he wants shooters and MGS get PS3 judging by his avatar he would probably like a PS3 better and imo its more worth it to buy a 360 now and wait until 2009 when the price is lower and the real heavy hitters come out like FF 13,GT5,GOW 3,Twisted Metal,Team Ico games, etc. not only do you get a ps3 when the big hitters come out but get the best of both worlds with already having bought a 360

The OP gave Ninja Gaiden a 10/10. The sequel to the game is coming out exclusively to the 360 so that may be a reason for him to buy a 360.

360 and PS3 are both great systems and it'll come down to the games that you want so my advice is go through a list of games for both systems that are out / coming out and decide which ones you want more.

I think it does. Sure it doesn't have as highly as anticipated titles as the PS3 but it still has a solid lineup, then you have to factor the last two years worth of games into that.

If last gen is anything to look at, I would get a PS3 and just wait on Microsofts next console.

So in summary i keep my original statement that your talking rubbish!

I'd personally go with a PS3, but of course it's not to late. Dude, you said you haven't even gotten into this generation so that means that you have over 2 years of quality titles for the 360 to get caught up on. Bioshock, Mass Effect, Call of Duty 4, Gears of War, Oblivion, Halo 3, Condemned 1 & 2, GRAW 1 & 2, Crackdown, Dead Rising, Orange Box, Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2, Rockband, Forza Motorsport 2, Assassin's Creed, Burnout Paradise, etc. It'll take you at least a year just to get caught up with all the great titles that have already came out.

You might've thought you've seen me post that, but what I actually said was something like this, "The TC hasn't asked for any type of games." The TC's asking if he should get a 360 or a more reliable system for this gen like a PC, Wii, or PS3

he wasnt responding to the TC someone said the 360 doesnt have any worthwile games waiting for it or something like that anyway it was a pretty ignorant statement

also i doubt he could afford a gaming pc if he just got the money for a 360 but if he could that would be the best choice

the Wii has a great lineup so far but 2008 isnt up to par with PS3,360 AND PC

so PS3 or 360 would be the best choice

since he likes metal gear i think he should go with the ps3 but since he gave ninja gaiden a perfect score things get a little more complicated

The TC is NOT asking about the "reliability" of the 360. When he asks if there's still feul in the tank, he's referring to longevity of the platform, being supported by MS and the 3rd party devs, having market life for this generation cycle. It's just YOU who's trying to twist his topic into a 360 hardware inquisition, so just stop it.

Getting to answering the TC's question, YES, the 360 still has steam for the coming years at least to 2010 if not a couple years beyond that. Games will NOT stop being made for it. And as for people looking at ONLY the 2008 lineup; just what makes you think 2006 and 2007 games don't count anymore? Because their release date doesn't match the calendar? There is no "chronological coding" in a console that prevents it from playing previous games. Since the TC hasn't entered this gen yet, he can STILL buy the older games and they'll be just as enjoyable.

It's funny how fanboys regard the longevity of the 360. They laughe at how it would be dead in 2006 when PS3 launched. They swore it would be dead in 2007 when such and such games on PS3 launched. Now we're into 2008 and this platfform has STILL outlived well past it's doomed prognosis.

I can't wait till Sep when we'll hear the new mantra "Xbox 360 will be dead in 2009, GUARUNTEED!!!!!":lol::lol:

i am a casual gamer and enjoy playing fps and action adventure games. In theory it only seems right to buy a ps3 as i have found out it has the better hardware but it hasn't showed it recently altough it looks very promising. But on the other hand the 360 seems to be in its prime. Which comes to my conclusion the only thing that is keeping me from buying the 360 is its future in gaming and MGS4. Also when might the new Xbox come out?

The TC is NOT asking about the "reliability" of the 360.When he asks if there's still feul in the tank, he's referring to longevity of the platform, being supported by MS and the 3rd party devs, having market life for this generation cycle.

I can't wait till Sep when we'll here the new mantra "Xbox 360 will be dead in 2009, GUARUNTEED!!!!!":lol::lol:

i am a casual gamer and enjoy playing fps and action adventure games. In theory it only seems right to buy a ps3 as i have found out it has the better hardware but it hasn't showed it recently altough it looks very promising. But on the other hand the 360 seems to be in its prime. Which comes to my conclusion the only thing that is keeping me from buying the 360 is its reliability and MGS4. Also when might the new Xbox come out?

To AdobeArtist: You, also, have no idea what the TC was talking about when he was talking about "fuel in the tank". That was all he said. Assumptions ftl. The TC has recently responded saying he's a casual gamer. Posters have posted many non casual friendly games to try to support their argument. Those games may be the assumed "fuel" for some, but not for the TC.

To kingcobra: You probably should've been more descriptive in what you were asking for. I don't know when the new X Box is coming, but I'm guessing maybe..2010? And MGS4 isn't liked by many casuals. You're probably not the type of gamer you think you are.

It's not too late. Personally, I would wait until MS fix the hardware problem, but if you're willing to go through the hassle, then I think you owe it to yourself to get one ASAP.

MS is collecting all the 360's and burning them. It may be too late...

Looks fine to me if the games interest you. Otherwise choose the system with the games and features you like.

I have not yet entered this gen due to financial reasons. But now i have the money to make my purchase. but i am not sure if i am getting into this gen too late at least for the 360. my question is does the 360 still have alot of fuel in the tank or is it going to struggle in the near future?

I'd say wait until around the GTAIV area to buy a 360 because maybe MS will bring out a price drop.

Look, fact is the Xbox 360 is a great system and Xbox Live is a great service. I've only recieved Red Rings once in my two/three years of owning the 360, and I just sent it off to Microsoft. Got it back in less than a month.

The Xbox 360 has great games, if you buy a 360, get this:

*Elite or Premium console. I reccomend Elite for more HDD space.

*Play and Charge kit, the Elite may come with this, I dunno.

*Xbox Live. Sign up for Silver membership when you buy the 360, this gives you 1 month free. Then go out and buy a 12+1 month card, that gives you 13 + 1 free month of XBL for $50. Not bad.

*Buy GTAIV Regular Version. Its gonna be great.

*Buy one more game if possible so you don't get bored of GTA, I'm thinking Call of Duty 4.

*Get Gamefly or ignore option above and get Gamefly. 360 has a massive library of games, some that are amazing but rentals/you won't play too much after the first time through, heres a list of some games that are great:

-Crackdown (Download the free content. Keys to the City = (almost) Best Mode Ever)

-Bioshock

-Gears of War

-Devil May Cry 4

-The Orange Box

-Oblivion, Forza 2, PGR4, Burnout Paradise, Dead Rising, Lost Planet, The Darkness, Hitman: BM, etc.

*For this year, you have games like Too Human, Halo Wars(RTS), Ninja Gaiden 2, Fable 2, Banjo 3, and some other announced games that will be announced at E3 and X08 this year. Games like Halo Chonicles (Peter Jackson) will be revealed.

*And the XBLArcade. It has new and old games. Games like the original Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage II and games like Alien Hominid and Geometry Wars.

It is the best time.

You can get a lot of really good games for really cheap. The platinum hits and piles and piles of used games.

F' it i'll just buy a 360 now and a ps3 later when i can. I waited this long so i might as well start catching up. MGS has been one of the best series i have played (Which explains my Avatar) but i think i can wait a little bit longer. thanks for the advice hopefully i made the right decision.

I'd say it's safer to go for the PS3, because

1) Online is free there, you don't have to pay yearly fees or anything

2) Xbox 360 breaks down much more frequently (Google Red Ring of Death)

Vexx88

I like how you leave games out of the reasons!

What good are games with a ticking time bomb in your house...?

i happen to be very good at defusing bombs.

Even the used games for PS3 are still way to expensive. I wish I would have wating to get mine. But now that I have had one I am not going to sell it only to want it again later.

But the games just are not there and walking into the store and looking at how pricey a lot of games still are is a joke.

You can get a used copy of the Platinum Dead Rising for 24 dollars. Although if any system ever gets Dead Rising 2 it will be a system sellar for me.
