I've played every Quantic Dream game since Farenheit and they have never failed to tell an enthralling emotional story. Heavy Rain to this day is the only video game that has made me cry and Detroit looks like it will be even better! Cage deserves credit for the wonderful stories he has written throughout the years. :)

Coming from a Playstation only owner, I should rather bleed my eyes out with another Transformers, Twilight saga than to watch and play a clumsy B-movie David Cage interactive YouTube video.

This is bait.

He's not the best story teller at all...and many hate his games. So this is an easy "lets bash the movie games" thread.

Do his stories have unique qualities and are his games different from most other games? Yes.

Sam Lake is. All his games are beautifully written, have a great atmosphere and likeable characters that you feel for.

I can agree with this, the Transformers movies are pretty awful, bottom of the barrel even. But they never cost me 60 dollars to watch.

Emptying a pack of alphabet pasta on the floor will yield better writing than a David Cage game.

Sam Lake wipes the floor with his games. David Cage is a bad game designer and a bad storyteller.

Yea, if you like horrible stories filled with plotholes, bad writing and awful french canadian voice acting he is by far the best. You'd have to have some really really low, shitty standards and at most a middle school education to think he's a great story teller.

@Cloud_imperium:

Well the reason he is a Bad Game designer is Because, Heavy Rain and Beyond and Fahrenheit, etc. Are not Games.

He's a Bad Game Designer much in the same way Wiz Kalifa is a Bad Opera singer.

Just my two and a half cents.

Which makes him even worse. His "games" are reviewed by gaming sites, are they not? And if I recall correctly, he also said "I make games with passion".

He also said he doesn't mind when people say his work are not games.... he prefers to think of them as interactive dramas.... a term which I disagree with but the longer we keep calling them games the more difficult this is going to be to review since every reviewer is going to approach ut from a gaming perspective and judge it the same way they do something like.... say..... The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes..... which is pretty much the only adventure game I have played.

But he is bad at those "interactive dramas" too, which is the main point of this thread (Story telling). So that's exactly what I said in my first post that he is not a good game director and a storyteller. There are games out there that tell better stories and have actual/better gameplay than his "interactive dramas" that try hard to be different but fail in every way.

Well alot of Studios that make them are bad at them too........ much in the same way Street Fighter 1 was a bad fighting game.

Its early days, Sweetness. The art needs to grow and mature. I think David Cage is doing all the right things....... now if only that ass hole would bring some of that hot sauce to Xbox and PC....... and Nintendo.

Hell no! I'd rather put myself through Kojima's confusing mess (especially Metal Gear Solid 2, my first, but my least favorite Metal Gear game ever made). Because at least he made far more entertaining games.

Great storyteller? No. He makes good game experiences with great graphics and tons of atmosphere. Telltale make really boring graphic novels with PS2 quality graphics. You can tell which I prefer.

Life Is Strange I haven't played, waiting for the finished thing to be released (preferably physical version) then I'll buy it and have a look. It looks interesting though, played the demo on PS4.

Hahaha the same people here bashing his games are the type of people that never get tired of playing the same old first person shooters and buying up assassins creeds year after year.

I understand his games may not be everybody's cup of tea but at least the guy has the nuts to do something different and like he said the other day he also creates new engines for every game he creates rather than using the same engine for sequel after sequel after sequel

While his stories since Indigo Prophecy have gotten better, the choice consequence system was completely lacking in Beyond: Two Souls. Still got a good story down, he just lacks the ability to create a varied narrative. Hopefully that changes. His stories are good, but he's getting competition with the Telltale story games. Plus, when he made Indigo Prophecy he made an entire game from QTEs which hadn't yet earned their notorious status. Now his QTEs are a joke, he needs to make them more engaging and not dumbed down.

David Cage has a tendency to resort to cliches and leave out plot holes, and I've never played Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy but things went downhill at the end according to some. But the overall quality of his works make for intriguing, emotional stories with characters that you root for. This medium is perfect for his style.
