Is CD Projeckt Most overrated Developers of today?

Hello friends,

I used to think its rockstar and still think they are but they can release good games time to times. its just thier GTA formula is boring. otherwise Max payne 3 is thier best game and red dead redemption is good as well.

theres lot of bad developers today like DICE or bioware but they are also hated by lot of gamers.

come to think i find out its CDPR who are currently most overrated developers.

thier first release witcher 1 was absolute crap, a game where i wish it has button to skip the combat, 2 was better but gameplaywise still mediocre and 3 is their most loved game but it was also the most overrated game of this generation. a boring open world game with mediocre combat and excellent lore/universe.

now theres cyberpunk 2077 coming out not any time soon and still most of mainstream journalist calming it best thing they have seen since slice bread and some even say its the best game ever or best game of this gen or GOTY when it will release. this is the first time i have ever seen a game which doesnot shown to public getting insane amount of hype. because more i read preview. the only thing interesting to me is first person view, driving in open world feel boring, plus romance option is waste of time etc.

now it make me think CDPR is most overrated developers today. I mean they can make thier universe and lore great. which i give them credit. but their games lack solid gameplay mechanics.

so yeah cyberpunk 2077 can become best CDPR game. i like science fiction cyberpunk setting alot and looking forward to see gameplay first. but still previews doesnot impressed me and how game is hyping through the roof.

it make me realize that its CDPR who are just overrated. their track record consist of mediocre witcher games which no one care until they released open world witcher 3. no one talk about witcher 1 and 2 last gen and every one was on mass effect 1 and 2 or skyrim.

No, they make good games and are pro consumer.

Id are not the same as they were when Carmack and Romero created Doom.

They are both a long time away from Id Software, especially Romero.

On topic: No, they may have only made three games but the advancements they made from The Witcher to The Witcher 3 is nothing short of amazing. They'll apply all that learned skill and knowledge to Cyberpunk 2077 and that too will be an resounding success.

id software are still miles ahead of CDPR. i mean they are still master of level design and Combat. even with CDPR jump from witcher to witcher 3. they still dont know how to make decent combat.

look at 4A games and thier jump from Metro 2033 to Metro Exodus.

DOOM 2016 is thier achievement and probably best of id software game since 90s.

I think time would be better spent discussing grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

The most overated developers that used to be one of a kind = BLIZZARD. Making free 2 play caliber games that when at the same time are a letdown ( check Diablo 3 / HOTS ) everyone having them as gods or something. Thats the pinnacle of overated.

They are not overrated at all. Everyone agrees the first 2 Witcher games suck. Almost everyone agrees Witcher 3 is awesome. Lots of people are hating on CyberPunk for being First Person.

So I have no idea why you feel they are overrated when they have only created 1 great game and own GOG.

They are properly rated.

Overrated companies would be ID software, Valve, Blizzard and Nintendo. Those are companies that have pumped out tons of turd games that are constantly overrated.

I'm not only going to put my ballot in for NO, I'll even take it one further; to say that CD Projekt RED is OBJECTIVELY a superior developer.

Now I know someone will bring up the combat. Yes, that is the one shortcoming of the Witcher games, it's wonky but far from game breaking, not like it's glitchy or buggy, just falling short in execution. CDPR isn't perfect, but then no developer is. And they do way more right than they get wrong, the total package is always a robust fully realized player experience.

You know better than that. The original wireframe Battlezone was already pseudo-3D as were flight sims. Hell. Flight sims were among the first to have both first-person view and 3rd-person views plus movement along the X, Y, and Z-axis.

If you want to bring it down to ground level, there was Ultima Underworld that came out before Wolfenstein 3D.

As for CDPR? Although I'm burned out on 3rd-person games, I don't think CDPR is overrated.

@ghosts4ever: Dude, CD Project is still isn't the coolest kids on the block. They only made one awesome game and to me, they just got there 15 minute of fame and that's it.
