Poll If you could only have one modern console, which would it be? (82 votes)

Switch 22%
X Box Series X 26%
PS5 52%

If you could only have one of these options, what would you choose? Personally, I'd go with Switch for that platformer itch. Second choice would be X Box Series X, because it's all around the best console in terms of technical ability. PS5 doesn't offer me much personally because it's weaker than the X Box Series X, and I'm not into the exclusive content this generation.

What about you?

@joshrmeyer: you are mistaken my friend. The Xbox has tons of games, mainly older ones that are supported on Xbox but not for pc. I highly recommend you buy one, especially the series S. Uncle Phil will thank you.

jk, actually the steam deck is pretty awesome, and a major reason for that is because it supports gamepass.

Judging from this poll , not even game pass can save the almighty most powerful console ever created .

The Steam Deck experience is better than the average PC. Hopefully Valve brings back the Steam Machine concept except makes it themselves this time and can bring the Steam Deck experience to the desktop.

the pc fanboys love to say that the PC is super easy to get into. Its not, and trust me I build PCs every few years. PCs are a major pain in the ass when something goes wrong. If you install one thing wrong, say a memory stick, the computer won't boot. If you don't put the right amount of thermal paste the cpu, then it starts overheating, but if you put too much that will also cause other issues. I spent hours on troubleshooting recently, then later on, another issue popped up, I decided to spend an extra $100 to have the store diagnose it instead. I could have did it myself, but im super glad that I paid the store to do it because it would have meant spending another day.

The issue by the way was a corrupted bios on the motherboard...you might not know what that means, but just let me tell you, that is a nightmare issue to pin point and is something that a lot of PC people will just completely miss.

PS5. Still at least has exclusives to the console for at least a year or two before getting ported to PC, plays all my old PS4 games. This may be my last gen for buying consoles though

The average person who has to spend more time to understand the issue, it really sucks. I've built and supported PCs as a job. I've fixed bugs in software as a job. It isn't a problem for me to solve the issue. Even the times when it's not such a PITA, something goes wrong and it's fixable within a few minutes, it's still annoying AF.

The software side is a whole different can of worms. But yeah, unlike people like us who are more tech literate, the average joe who doesn't know jack about pc is going to have a nightmare of a time. My suggestion, just stick to consoles, or devices like steam deck. The PC, even the pre built ones will have issues.

PS5 without much need to think about it.

Switch has a couple of games I enjoyed, but that can’t touch the plethora of games the PS5 has to offer.

I haven’t tried a Series X, but I enjoy GT7 and UC 4 and Xbox doesn’t have those. Also, no Spider-Man or VR.

I prefer Xbox as it has a good library of games that I like. I do not game on the go, so the Switch is out. If the PS5 was available in a slim version and was a bit more powerful I might have picked that one instead.

Ah yes Tiger Electronics. Those things were quite horrible, but strangely addicting in a way. I also owned Nintendo's Donkey Kong. Was the format called Game & Watch? I can't remember.

Lmao at this. Yet PS5 has the better looking titles. Perhaps on paper specs that don't translate to much mean the world to you lol.

Yeah it's my current combo, covers all I want.

Switch isn't doing much for me either. Not into portable gaming and if I were, just get a Deck.

But Nintendo does (not as often as I'd like) make/publish more exclusives that I'm interested in. Makes for an easy choice alongside PC.

Real answer to the topic, assuming I can't have my PC, take the PS5. At least it's a safety net for fighting games.

PS5. I have that and a Switch. I also have a nice pc. That covers almost everything.

Switch came out in 2017, so 3 years before the "next gen" systems, so of course it is a slower system. Even though Nintendo puts out lower end hardware anyway compared to other companies.

I mainly have it for Zelda and similar games that are good for portability.

I wonder what happened to the rumor of the Wind Waker and Twilight Princess remasters? Was it fake?

I was looking forward to those.

An Ocarina Of Time remaster would be awesome.

Anyway; I love my PS5. It's not perfect, but nothing is. But, is it fast and it works well. I have been with Sony since PS1 and have preferred them since then.

the PS5 is a weak 9tflop (oc to 10.28), compared to the 12 tflop xbox, those are just facts. Sony has REAL nuts to raise their ps5 prices world wide, its a hilarious joke, when you consider the xbox is still at the same price. At least they had some common sense to not do that here in the US. If they did that here, they would be getting an even bigger wooping by the xbox.

Even worse, until just yesterday, when gow launched, the ps5 library was literally all but trash. Slim pickings. Xbox has better price, better value, better library, let it sink in.

I bought an XSX but I kind of regret it. It's great value for money with the cheaper gamepass (£90 for 3 years), don't get me wrong, but Playstation has some really good exclusives and you just know they're gonna deliver... whereas with Microsoft they're more hit or miss

Ps5 easily. I love switch but lack of some multi platforms heart and the fact they dont run has well on switch has they do on the other day. Xbox has no games that cant be played on playstation or switch that are worth playing. So xbox is a far 3rd.

@Sagemode87: Better looking games on PS5? Hmmm. Anyway, read my post again. I wished the PS5 was a bit more powerful. In other words, it isn't the end of the world to me if those teraflop specs are weaker than those of the Xbox. The real downer is the atrocious design of the PS5.

Well I got a PC so I don't need an xbox, and PS5 just doesn't have a lot of games, so I guess Switch? I mean if I am going to entertain the idea of doing something different, I might as well go whole-hog different and get something like a Switch that has some really unique and interesting games.

Xbox. After having GamePass for a couple years, I feel sorry for anyone being forced to spend $70 on a game that lasts 12-15 hours with no replay value.

For me, I'm happy with the Series S. It has many games to play from the past and present and Gamepass.

But for the retro gamer like myself PC is king... But it isn't a console.
