I'm starting to struggle with this. I'm starting to think I should just build a small form factor PC that can actually run 4K/60. But having 2 PCs seems silly. I'm a wreck over here.
For that cost I'd be hard pressed to believe you couldn't run a HDMI cable for a fraction of the cost... even if its on another floor or the other side of the house.
I now have 3 ethernet cables with HDMI adaptors on 2 of them, so my PC is hooked up to the main 4K TV at all times, my PS4 is hooked up to my second Monitor in the office, can just select between them...
I couldn't justify a HTPC or an XBX ... just no point.
Kinda fun project though, I have it so that I can turn the PC on via Alexa from the living room, have 2 user profiles:
1) Birdy (normal PC profile)
2) Kodi - This profile's group policy runs a bat file on startup that closes explorer.exe and runs kodi so its in focus always, inside kodi (other than TV related content) has Steam and Launchbox (emulators) setup and ready to go...
To a degree it works with the tv remote, but obviously a controller is required.
best way forward if at all possible imo.
