If xbox Silver had FREE online Multiplayer, would you pay for Gold?

Basically if MS dropped the online fee from Gold membership and let Silver members play for free, would you buy xbox Gold? Everything else in the two services would stay the same, Gold would be reserved for Party chat, Netflix, early demo'sFacebook ect... Just Silver could now go online without paying.

Pretty much every reasonable person will say no. It's not like they enjoy paying $50 or so a year just to play online pretty much.

Well...No.The reason I pay is to play online from time to time.

I don't even like MP.But it's handy.

I think I'd still pay....I haven't been out of party chat in a multiplayer game for years. I hate general xbl chat, don't like constant swearing, screaming, and racism. Ok swearing I like, but only if it's me doing it.

Coulda sworn there was a thread like this a few months ago

I don't use party chat but cross-game chat.... Would be a tough decision. I also think they'd offer something else. LustForSoul

Oh sorry by Party chat I also mean Cross game chat aswell. Everything about Gold membership would stay the same except now you can play online for FREE with Silver.

LOL, of course not! There's nothing else that you get with your Gold Membership here in the UK that you can't do elsewhere, apart from the MP, of course. Facebook? So many other devices that do it better. Twitter? Same as above Sky? You have to have a Sky subscription anyway to use it on your 360 Zune? There are superior alternatives X Game chat? Just use Ventrilo or SkypeDeniable_Ops

It's all subjective of course, but I never understood why someone would pay to use Facebook on a console. I want to play games or watch a movie, why would I use Facebook on my xbox :?

id still pay if what i somewhat saw was correct silver can just go online and play thats it gold will allow party chat early demos betas and arcade purchases and much more than a mear silver. trust me there is more to xbl then just the MP

Probably. But only because Netflix would still be only for Gold subscribers. Which is complete garbage might I add since Netflix has it's own separate fee. Stupid Microsoft.

No one brought up PSN, it has nothing to do with this thread. This is about xbox live and if Gold would be worth buying if Silver had free online, that's it. Your trying to start a flame war....

if xbox silver had free online play, even if it was just basic (like no cross-game chat, video messages, etc.), i would buy the gears of war xbox pack tonight. I've had ps products since the ps1, nothing else... but there are a few xbox games that i wouldn't think twice about buying... but paying for xbox live is literally the only obstacle at this point

I wouldn't, I'm still a silver member since May. xbox live costs too much to access multiplayer in games. Especially when I barely used the service when I was gold. Don't really see myself going back as long as I have my PC and PS3 games.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't xbox live on PC (MS changed the GFWL name to xbox live PC) still FREE on PC? And it brought all the stuff that the xbox live on consoles has like the avatars (which are dumb IMO) and the dashboard ect...but it's FREE? Why would they charge for the same thing on console but not for PC? It's the same brand with the same features and everything (including party/cross chat) but it's FREE on one platform but not the other?

The simple ability of being able to play online should be free. They can charge for all the other features they want but having to pay to play is absurd. The thing with Microsoft is there is no options. You either buy everything or nothing. I dont want or use all the other useless features they put on there but yet im forced to pay for it all. Thats complete bull

People will only put up with this so long. If this continues onto next gen then PS4 will be my platform of choice. They are slowly killing themselves.
