Yeah current gen console hardware sucks. And if PS5 will be backwards compatible I would def wait to play the handful of good exclusives with the hopes they will run better.

Switch hardware sucks even harder though. Also yes, if PS5 is backwards compatible, which it seems like it will be (I hope it is fully BC, that would be the best thing ever), it would be a good choice to wait.

Why wait for next-gen consoles when you can start investing a gaming PC?

PC master race. It will change your life. You'll be immune to disease. It will make you taller (unless you want to be shorter, then it will make you shorter).

Except sometimes you have to wait to play games. RDR2 or KH3.

I would wait too if in your position. Next gen is coming soon and plenty of good games to play on Switch. Get a bc ps5 next gen and then buy up a bunch of used ps4 games for cheap. You will be set.

If you're in the US, watch out for $ 200 trade ins in GameStop for base units. Sometimes this only happens for a day where the succeeding days trade in value drop off steadily. Could be $ 200 the first day, then $ 160 the next.

Then again, it depends on how much you value your existing unit, time and effort.

I know people complain all the time that there's no good games to play, I find there's plenty to play and not enough time to play everything that interests me. Sure, same games will likely be available next gen, but if same still applies, too much to play and not enough time to play it, then all waiting does is limit the time you have to catch up on these good games.

there are so many games this gen i need to play, im not upgrading next get untill atleast 2 years in and just play current gen games for the next 3 years. I just picked up fallout 4, mass effect andromeda, persona 5, shadow warrior, Prey and nino kumi 2 for under 60 bucks ( i dont have enough time for all these games lol, the games on ps4 are dirt cheap now if you dont buy them at launch and there are way more i want to play.

I could probably go 5 years before upgrading and have plenty of stuff to play

I'm sure I'll get hyped when I see the new hardware and the impressive launch titles.

But I just have to remember that I already have a ton of games to play and thus I'm in no hurry to move over from this gen.

I dont buy many games at launch anymore, by the time I beat all the games I just got, all the expensive games im interested will drop in price, I tend to buy games in bulk after price drops. Where I can get 4 or more games im interested in for the price of one good game that just launched.

Theres an insane amount of games dropping, throw the indie scene in there as well and ive got way more than i can chew. This is the first gen i am in 0 rush to go next gen.

I am in a similar position, i gave up buying games on PS4 & PC, i seem to be playing way more old XBOX and XBOX 360...

Thinking of going out and grabbing more games for PS2 too, dunno why, i think i miss times when games were not cash cows.

Are you trying to say that you aren't going to buy any more games this console generation? If you're not then I don't know what you mean unless you are saying you aren't going to get involved in this gen and will just wait until next gen.. which is only like a year away at this point. Either way, it's about as clear as mud.

I wonder i f there isn't room for like taking a break with games....

Like holding off for a generation... or just playing fewer games and skipping the monthly release cycle etc....

LIke there often is that important game to play pretty much every month.... and have all the systema systems and all the games

it can be sorta demanding...

@warpig775: You actually have a point. I am quite sure if TLOU2, Gears 5, Halo infinity, Cyber 2077, Splinter Cell and etc comes out this generation then they will be enhanced for next.

I can not resist playing those games on PC. However, any exclusives like TLOU 2 are easy to resist if you are forced to play them on current gen at 30fps. Better to wait and play them next-gen at 60fps.

That's exactly what I'm doing. Was thinking about a PS4 pro, but they said PS5 may have BC, and if that's the case, I'll just wait and game on PC only for now. The PS4 pro kinda has crap hardware, anyway.

You're not missing much. You've got a Switch, and that should suffice pretty well.

I do recommend getting a decent PC to go with your Switch, though. That way you don't have to worry about crappy, barren game libraries consisting of soulless hollywood movie-games with microtransactions.
