I'm sorry, but Ryse is not better looking than The Order

Having played Ryse today, I can safely say it's a nice looking game, but definitely not as pretty as The Order. I even cheated and played it on PC. Can you really tell me The Order doesn't win in the graphics department, SW? The Ryse video is from PC at max settings.

Ryse is not a clean looking game but the order is the most over post processed game i've ever seen.

Hopefull the Playstation 5 can give The Order: Shadow Fall gameplay of some sort.

Who cares? Both games are terrible.

That said, I prefer the art in Ryse far more than The Order, but I think the technology of The Order is far more impressive.

You can turn off the blur in the PC version

Order has film grain, chromatic aberration / heavier chromatic aberration, heavy color grading black bars etc etc.

I don't care about Ryse either but no, Order takes the cake as king of bad post processing. Only bloodborne has worse chromatic aberration that i've seen, maybe Destiny as well but that's one aspect.

didn't play the pc version since i am not going to waste money on that garbage, my experience with ryse boils down to a couple hours on a friend's house. As for the pc version, i thought we were talking about console versions, obviously on pc it would run better.

So take a pc game that can and was redone to run at 4k, run it at 1080p compare it to a console game at 1080p and at the lowest possible framerate considered acceptable...

From a technical standpoint it's in a much better state, but the game itself just isn't very good. Which is a shame because it makes a few excellent changes to the AC formula, but it's just not enough to overcome the shortcomings.

you dont even have a gaming pc, and youve never seen the above games at 4k. i actually have a high end pc with ACU and ryse installed. i know exactly what both look like at 4k.

The order doesn't really look that good.

If you take away all that horrible post processing so you can actually make out what detail it has then you will see it looking fairly bad.

Ryse on PC definitely looks better.

Personally I think Ryse looks better over all. It looks damn good on the Bone. If you compare Ryse on the PC against The Order it's no competition.

Of the two games I enjoyed playing The Order more though. Well minus all the quick time crap that is.

That shot from The Order is strictly a color pass. Literally every single 3D asset, whether it's from a game or a movie, will look like that if you isolate only color (diffuse/albedo) information.

Any high end texturing job calls for cross polarized photography because the last thing you want is specular highlights and shadow information in your color map. If anything, that image shows a mastery of texture work on their part. Flat, uniform, evenly toned color maps is the ultimate goal and they nailed it.

I'm not saying The Order looks better by any means. I'm not arguing that they didn't go overboard with post-processing. All I'm saying is that the image you chose doesn't support the claim. If you were to isolate only the color info from Ryse, it would look the same.

When you strip away specular maps, normal/bump maps, AO and light sources, that's what you get.
