My buddies come over sometimes on the weekends, we kick back reminisce over a few beers and play some games. The weak ass dualshit 4 never stays charged. You need to plug the damn thing in every hour. Its like having a wired controller. My ps4 was dropped many times from people tripping over the stupid wire. My xbox controllers need a new battery maybee once a month if that. Luckily I take free batteries from my office and never have to buy them.

I would MUCH rather have batteries in my controller than having to charge my controller before I play, during, and after. Amd dont get me started on the cheap ass thumbsticks wearing out after a month.

It's pretty much that light sensor on the controller that uses up a lot of battery. Pretty much it is pointless if you don't have the playstation camera but we have to deal with it cause you can't turn it off.

The controller feels much cheaper than the DS3, and that stupid light really drains the battery. But if you're somewhat handy, you can change out the battery to a bigger one.

I played fallout 4 for about 6 hours one day and still had some life left at the end out of my DS4. So sounds like you have a bad controller.

I haven't had too many problems thus far, but I also only had the PS4 a few weeks and haven't engaged in any marathon sessions. I just picked up Fallout 4, so we'll see how my feelings toward the DS4 change over the next few days.

Try going into your settings and dimming the light bar on your controller.

The battery life is absolutely pitiful from factory, but if you have to plug the remote for charging on an hourly basis, you might want to purchase a new one.

Yeah mines is dim too. I can have it charged all night, get home and play a game for 2 to 3 hours and it's already on 1 bar. The battery life sucks for the DS4.

Yup pretty much my main problem with the controller. The DS3 lasted a lot longer.

I do like almost everything else and think it's the best Sony controller ever made.

And I always leave my PS4 on stand-by mode after gaming for so long and been doing it since launch. Problem solve on my end.

It is very bad, the worst reality is the Xbox One controller also has a light on it and can last up to 40 hours with standard AA's and about 25 with a rechargeable pack.

That's like 5-8 times the battery life... Also when he said 1 hour he was being dramatic, however he's not being dramatic in the sense that it always feels like the DS4 is about to die.

Why are you using regular batteries? I understand that you steal them but you should be using rechargeable by now. I bought two pairs + a charging block and they have lasted me since the Xbox 360 launch.

Yep, I can't believe people complain about the Xbox still using batteries. It takes 5 seconds to switch pairs and they last way longer than the DS4 so you end up wasting less time.

The battery in the DS4 is too small. It's only a 1000mAh battery, while the X1 controller has twice that with good quality AA batteries. So changing the battery to a larger one has crossed my mind. But I just charge the controller with the same charger as my phone, which is right where I sit.

The vibration supposedly drains the battery a lot aswell, though I haven't tested turning it off.

That is the very definition of unneccesary extra cost. That costs money.......and no @zeroepyon it definitely does not cost "pennies per year". I'd love to see your maths! You clearly dont pay your own electricity bills!

I get aa batteries for all sorts of stuff in our house. The cost is negligible though cause i buy in decent quants. i'd still be buying them even if the xone controller didnt use them.

Your statement is extremely stupid. Your X1 uses electricity. Period.

So sorry to hear that the fake controller on the PS4 you don't own is performing poorly. Let's be real though, we all know you're too broke to afford a PS4.

If you weren't, you wouldn't need to steal batteries for your ghetto ass Xbone controller LOL!

Like the tc said the battery in the ds4 is weak. It needs charging very often. IMO itS. due after 3-4 hours. That stupid light drains it needlessly and yes i have it dimmed.

that again is a definition of unneccesary extra cost, cause it does nothing.......except help drain your battery and require it to be charged more often.

I get aa normal alkaline non rechargeable batteries for all sorts of stuff in our house. The cost is negligible though cause i buy in decent quants. i'd still be buying them even if the xone controller didnt use them.

Why cant you cows ever accept critiscm of your favourite piece of plastic.

You know you can charge the controller using any micro USB cord right? I use the same one to charge my tablet to charge the dualshock

@LJS9502_basic: no you are the one who made the stupid statement. The ps4 needs to be on (or standby mode) to charge the controller when the console is not in use.

That is a cost and i am certain in a lot of cases this will lead to people leaving the console on standby mode for prolonged periods to make sure the controller is charged. This costs money and if it is not doing anything else, its unnecessary spend on electricity.

Also unless u pay for ps+ it wont even be downloading game updates in the background (a very usefull time saving feature) as that feature is locked behind the paywall.

The xbox one does not recharge the controller. So it is not using electricity for that task. Your comment was dumb and ill thought out

So now you are telling us you disconnect your X1 after each use? Because if you leave it plugged in....you're using power. Don't assume you know how others use their electricity.

It's a clever design by Sony, when your controller disconnects due to low battery then it's time to stop and go to sleep.

My one lasts about 7 hours when paired to my PC, not actually used it on my PS4 yet LOL.

Yes because if your controller dies on the PS4 you have to plug it in the console when the joy of running to the store to pick up batteries for the X1 is much more awesome.

You can go to costco and buy a bunch of batteries for cheap. Also you could buy a rechargeable battery pack.

Same with PS4, invest in a micro USB wall charger and then after every gaming session, charge it. Unless your playing for more than 5+ hours you should never run out of battery

I don't see why you would since I'm using the same one since November 2013. Oh wait you don't have a PS4 huh? So your automatically going to assume the lithium battery depreciates at an astronomical rate
