From the minute I saw HD-DVD, i knew it was the one to be beat. I never bought the 360 add-on and i'm glad i didn't. If blu-ray begins to face some major success, than i will start buying them like crazy.

Talledega Nights came with my PS3..  beyond that, i've actually bought Underworld Evolution and The Covanent..  i do plan to buy a few other choice movies but mostly i'm just renting my Blu-ray movies through Netflix...

even with DVDs, i've always been a renter more than a movie buyer..  no reason to change now..

As a proud PS360 owner I can honestly say NONE!

(but I did download the free episode of south park, and that was pretty cool.  But I would never pay for it.)

I own about 15 Blu-Ray movies. All thse points I've racked up on my Sony card has allowed me to purchase BRDs way less than the MSRP of most DVDs.

    Why is bought in quotes?

Actually, while Blu-Ray is winning in the states, HD-DVD is killing Blu-Ray in Europe, so this format war might not just last, but end up screwing HD disc media from becoming mainstream.

I don't care what format wins, I just want one of them to win so I can buy one or the other with confidence.

So HD movies bought to date: 0.

To differentiate those that people "have".  Since sometimes HD players come with free movies.  I wanted to know if people are actually buying next gen movie discs over and above those that came free with their respective player.  It appears that many are indeed doing just that, but it also appears that it will be a quite while before DVD gets dethroned.

I've gotten Crank and Babel on Blu-Ray. So two.

I don't plan on buying anymore until the prices drop though.

I got the Xbox 360 HD DVD drive for Christmas. I only have a handful of HD DVD movies. To be honest, I do a huge majority of my HD viewing on cable TV on HBO, Showtime, Starz, etc. Perfect for my needs. I can also order HD movies on demand through Comcast.

I really don't expect HD DVD and Blu-Ray to take off in popularity like DVD did. The reason why is because it is not the only avenue for HD content. When DVD came out we could get nothing like it anywhere else - it offered superior picture, sound, functionality and features over VHS and standard TV. HD DVD & Blu-Ray do not offer nearly the same breadth of upgrades over DVD that DVD had over VHS.

We've been able to get HD on television for years now and IPTV will be here soon - we'll be able to order HD movies on demand through a subscriber service. I heard NetFlix intends to utilize IPTV. That would be an awesome service - having thousands of movies available to you right from your television. It will take a little bit of time, but digital distribution will be the future.
