@Legend002: If you think the Scorpio is not an Xbone.5, and is more a new Xbox, that means that the poor xbone's life is getting cut short. 2013 -2017 is four years.
Bummer. A bad scenario for Xbone supporters and fans if that is the case.
However, if the Scorpio is the Xbone.5, that would surely be a lot better for me as an xbone owner since I can rely on not having to buy a new Xbox machine so soon.
What I liked about the Neo was that it was a PS4.5, and not the PS5, so the PS4 support stays there. Once the PS5 hits, the PS4 will be on the outs and it's too early for that. Also, the NEO/PS4K/PS4.5 was rumored to be an enhanced PS4 which was fine with me which meant it was a PS4+, and was going to continue to work as a PS4 and then some.
I am not interested personally in owning the NEO or Scorpio, as I'm happy with my PS4 and Xbone.
The original Xbox to 360 was 4 years and that was fine
No, it wasn't fine.
I had major issues with the 3rd party and 1st party support through that generation as well, especially that last year (2005) which I and many others here spoke about the early demise of the OG Xbox in SW in 2005 actually. The four years length was no good, and that last Xbox 1 OG year was the worst of the years in terms of support, as a lot of previous projects shifted to the 360. To be honest, the first three years were the real years of the OG Xbox, and that fourth year was rough. To go through that again for the Xbone, doesn't bode well. Look at the Wii U situation now, and the NX isn't even out yet. I'd expect the same thing to happen to Xbone projects shifting to become Scorpio projects, just like GC projects that became Wii games, and Wii games that became Wii U games, and Wii U games that will become NX games (same for PS2 to PS3 to PS4, etc). That's how the cookie crumbles in the final year of a machine when on the eve of a new launch.
I never imagined after waiting in line in Nov 2004 for Halo 2, that was going to be the last and best game released for the OG Xbox 1 ever and that a new Xbox machine was to be released exactly one year later. None of us knew that while buying 2004's Halo 2.
I would link you conversations if old 2005 SW threads hadn't been purged, which is a huge shame, since SW was far bigger and more relevant on the internet back in 2005.
A lot of original Xbox 1 gamers were disappointed with the early demise of the original Xbox 1, but were happy to see the 360 at least.
I'm definitely not on board with the early demise of the Xbone in lieu of a new Xbox in 2017, but I'm all for it by 2018-2020.
Remember too, a year in console time is a very long time, so losing years off a machine a big deal, especially for those that plunked $500 to "jump in".
This is why I believe the Scorpio is an Xbone.5, I really hope so.
