After that last dire last game I thought they would just start again but it looks like the franchise is over.

Maybe another developer can pick up the series. Who would you like to see take on Hitman?

I hated the last one.

They made absolution more casual and linear because else this game would been too hard for console gamers. Even cover system ruined game.

Old classic hitman had no cover system, wallhack, regain health and auto aim. Sad, consoles ruined another great game.

Yes, the last Hitman was shit (I could tell without even playing it), but that's why pencils have erasers. Why is it so difficult just to pretend it never happened and start from the last good configuration.

Those were PC ports. Consoles were just for extra cash but console gamers complained that its too hard so now they made console gameplay focus not PC and now game is dead. WELL DONE!!!

I wish, I wish, I wish IO had jumped into Hitman straight away when sixth gen started instead of making the Kane and Lynch games.

There's an update in the link with someone from IO stating that just the current project was cancelled. Not the entire series.

It'll come out in time. Hitman Absolution was fun to a point. I think the problem is that there are so many quality titles out there now-a-days that if you don't do everything perfectly and really have your game shine, then it gets lost in the avalanche of decent software.

...read the link. All it says is that a game being made by SE Montreal has been canned. They probably realised the series isn't popular enough to warrant two developers working on games and cancelled it to just focus on IO's game.

Shit on my favorite series, then bury the franchise, boycotting square until the end of of time. Blood money was almost perfect, why not just build on it. Never understood why they always had to build each game from scratch!

But Hitman 2's is the good.

There will be another game at some point.

Agent 47 has outlived its appeal. We need a new protagonist and more creative gameplay mechanics.

cool game series but nothing too special

Absolution left a lot to be desired but I didn't hate it, it had its moments of fun.

Hate to see a great series die though. Just more negativity attached to the Square brand these days

I haven't liked a Hitman game since Silent Assasin/Contracts. Blood money had some neat environments, but it was too focused on the boring U.S. as opposed to more exotic locations.

Also, the accuracy and recoil of some of the weapons was pretty terrible. What was the point of a scope on an M4 if you can't hit anything at that distance. Also, in what universe is the M4 unable to reliably aim at targets a hundred yard away?

Absolution was too focused on cutscenes and a story no one cared about. The guns were much improved, but, again, it was all in the fricking U.S., as opposed to Japan, Russia, Arabia, and Jungles. Not interesting at all.

Come to think of it, Square did the same thing to Tomb Raider, limiting the game to one environment. At least there was a lot of variety there.

On the other hand, I bought all these games, so I'm not to blame for the poor sales.

Last one was shit. That was not hitman game. Good graphic but gameplay was not hitman.

My friend, Meat King Party is easily one of the best video game levels ever made. Contracts was a beautifully dark game.
