Happy Sunday! God of War Ragnarok is almost upon us and I want to know who's snagging it for their ps4! So happy Sony is releasing a well optimized edition of the game for the ps family and not just the ps5. Washington post goes on to say...

“God of War Ragnarok” looks and performs stupendously on the base PlayStation 4. The image is sharp and crisp, especially with incredible high dynamic range color application. Even during its busiest action sequences, my eye was not able to perceive significant frame drops.

In fact, I could scarcely believe my eyes. Having just played the PlayStation 5 version, I could barely tell the difference. I’ve spent half my time with “Ragnarok” on PS5 in the resolution mode, which sticks to a 4K resolution while locking performance to 30 frames per second. Outside of the expected blurriness of the lower 1080p resolution for PlayStation 4, the difference is hardly noticeable. The texture quality seems a bit lower on PlayStation 4, but the highly detailed snow deformation remains intact, as do particle effects.

Sooooo....? Who are my God of PS4 system warriors ready for one more win on the little console that could?

Question is, will God of War Ragnarok PS4 look better than any XSX game? 🤔

Not trusting a person who plays an action game at 30fps.

Last gen version of this game will look five times better than the current gen version of Halo Infinite. Think about that for a second and ask yourself why is this possible.

My only question is will Ragnarok on PS4 cause my PS4 fans to kick in and sound like a jet taking off? I know with God of War(2018) that happened and I couldn't play it with the noises.

Sony need to drop the PS4,if they made this ps5 only it may have looked as good as plague tale reqium

pro had 60fps mode, that didnt do a great job, ps5 plays it locked 60fps

@howmakewood: but I played gow 2018 on my launch ps4 and it played wonderfully. I'd say it was one of the best games of last generation...the fps didn't ruin any aspect of the game, nor will it in Ragnarok case.

I'm firmly in the camp that all games should be released this "generation" cross Gen. The industry is focused on profits, sequels and remakes... What compelling new ideas are being attempted to prove the worth of the upgraded hardware? What advancements call for such dedication to the top end machine? Pretty trees? 😂 Quicker loading screens? 🤣

PS4 and Xbox one should be fed, as their new big brothers don't provide enough unique additional improvements to warrent last Gen exclusion.

I loved the first God of War. One of my favorite titles on the PS4 alongside Horizon Zero Dawn

i think you’d be lying to yourself if you didn’t expect some of the hardcore greenies on this forum to keep denying the beast that is GOW. There will be more meltdowns, excuses and more user created MS studio “trees” than you can shake a stick at once Ragnarok drops and it will be glorious to watch

Imagine playing modern games at 30fps....

Sony 1st party Devs deserve huge credit for getting the most out of the PS4.

You get a 4K-30fps option, a locked 60fps option, a 4K-40fps option, and a 120 hz option. None of which are on the ps4. Now maybe to you, that’s little, but with these plus the dual sense experience, it’s very understandable if other see this as having more than “almost no upgrades“.

I removed my glasses for the 4k version and I couldn't tell the difference!

the 30fps mode is better experience on the pro as well, it has really solid frametimes and feels smoother than the 40-60jumping performance mode

I read that they only increased the resolution on PS5 which goes to show you it's really a ps 4 game and if there is a next one it will be a real PS5 game. 10$ more probably not worth it.

So, you're saying they wasted their money for inconceivable differences? Because that's exactly what cows always say about PC gaming.

Sounds like it will run great on my Steam Deck. Can’t wait.
