Enjoy your low-budget 10 minute tech demo bros.
Looks better than I expected.
Makes me want Half-Life 3 even more now though.
I just noticed there is a little TF2 Scout statue on the shelf at 1 minute in the video.
That looks awful. seriously valve. after 15 years of waiting. you came up with this?
i really hope this is just spinoff and they make proper HL game later but i guess they dont want to.
its like imagine if id software decide to only make Doom VR (which exist already) only instead of Doom Eternal.

It's obviously a prequel, since... uh, the city was blown up?
Funnily enough it looks like the originalHalflife 2, before they rebuilt the game.
" ... is set in the aftermath of the Combine invasion of Earth, before the return of Gordon Freeman in Half-Life 2. While it does take place before the events of Half-Life 2, we actually recommend that you play through Half-Life 2: Episode 2 before you play Half-Life: Alyx, for reasons that will become clear as you progress. It’s not a side story, nor an episodic one — it’s the next part of the Half-Life story, in a game around the same length as Half-Life 2."
Save up if you don't have a VR set, because this is a full blown Half-Life game.

In other news.
Valve are saying we are not making full feldge Half life game so lets pretend this low budget VR game is full fledge.
It looks cool, but it's VR, so it's gonna look weird and janky. Anyway, another case of not wanting to see old franchises/games come back.
At least now we know that Valve is still interested in the franchise (and single player gaming as a whole), which is a good news.
Looks good... but just not interested in VR.
It'd be good if they released a proper version but doubt that's going to happen.

This is the "proper version". It's 2020, not 2007. Valve aren't going to release a rehashed Half Life 2 in the era of VR.

in other words. they are using Half life name to sell thier stupid VR index.
If this were a standard game with a console version then I’d be interested. However this being VR and PC only means a pass for me.
Looks shit, hands flailing around in the air and all.
Not available for cows, let's see what the PSVR nuts think of this lol.
@pinkribbonscars: Era of VR??? It's still a niche product that hardly anybody owns/ uses.
And most people would prefer to have a non-VR version of the game.
@hrt_rulz01: Have you noticed how these VR fans tend to be nut jobs who think VR is the best thing in gaming, these VR devices are melting people's brains :(

History repeats.
Gotta sting brah.

Doom 3 and Half life 2 both were masterpeices. infact Doom 3 almost equal to HL2 imo.
If history want to repeat. Doom Eternal should have compete with proper Half life 3. not some VR spinoff. otherwise Doom Eternal would eat this so called "half life" alive.
I'm so happy the new half life game is VR. It's the future after all. I think that all shooters should be made into VR or at least made VR compatible a la resident evil 7.

In the Geoff Keighley interview with Valve (posted today), they said that Half Life Alyx will be a bridge to other SP games. Not sure if they meant more VR or 2D games though. But at least Valve is back with game-making.
And there will be two other VR titles from them after Half Life Alyx.

Yeah my point too. I think they'll use it as test bed for VR and Source 2. It'll also bridge the gap between Episode 2 and future Half Life games (already confirmed). Then they'll use polished but optional VR feature in Half Life 3 after taking feedback from HL Alyx. Either way it's a good news that Valve is back on business.
I have mixed feelings about this one.
Yeah, it looks great. Yeah, Half-Life is back. Yeah, I really want to explore the H-L universe more.
But I still won't purchase a VR system for this. I'll borrow it from my job and check out the game.
Also... I somewhat congratulate Valve for making a massive leap of faith as they did with Steam back in 2004, and it paid off.
Gabe believed in digital distribution, and the risk was justified. He also believes in VR almost as much.
I just hope this doesn't flop as Steam Machines did because we surely won't be seeing H-L 3 in that case.
Looks really good. If I ever get around to hooking up my Rift I'll give it a whirl. Assuming it's on the Rift, that is. I know it's not on PSVR, as of release, anyway.

Yeah... I agree. Its critical and financial success will decide Valve's future in Single Player field. Waiting for Gameplay debut at VGA. Fingers crossed.
I don't see a link between this VR game selling well and the potential of getting a traditional Half Life game, be it Half Life 3.
Half Life 2 is one of the best selling games of all time. Yet the money it brought in is peanuts compared to what Valve makes from team fortress or cs go microtransactions or steam market transactions.
This could be a precursor to Half-Life 3, if Alyx sells well enough.
They won't call it Half Like 3 though.
maybe. "Half Life: After 2"
