Gamespot: Mario Is The Only Next Gen Game Worth It

Here’s a thought that may stir some heated debate: the only next-gen game worth playing this holiday season is Super Mario 3D World on the Wii U. Sure, it may not have the looks of a Killzone or Forza, and you can’t use the Wii U to, say, search Bing for pizza delivery using voice commands, but Super Mario 3D World does have the most diverse, addictive, and downright charming gameplay seen in a Mario game since the Galaxy heydays.

It sure seems like it. Calling it the only worthwhile one is a bit much (forget you gave Forza 5 a 9, Gamespot? Is that not worth playing? :P) but it's probably the best.

Doubt it'll get GOTY against GTAV but you never know.

I mean everyone is entitled to their opinion but just from reading that you can tell Gamespot is ran by the flavor of the month type of thing. Watch them latter on say how amazing the PS4 and Xbox one is Vs the Wii U in terms of capabilities of games. <- Sooo gamespot. Like a 17 year old girl that doesn't know where to flip in life. :P

Not really, they flat out mention the capabilities of the other two consoles within that quote; then they say that none of them matter for shit, what matters is games, and Mario 3D World is a hell of a game.

I'm sure you been in GS more actively than me to know GS goes back and forth a lot in what they said. They're not a consistent bunch. They will go back to slash Mario 3D world later on and praise Sony and M$ directly or indirectly.

So not true. And they are right, this is the best damn game this holiday season. And for the first time, the visuals are amazing on top of the great gameplay. Nintendo in HD is truly a glorious thing to behold.

So what makes forza any less worth it then Mario? Sure isnt the score, or the graphics.

I have, and so I know, this is not IGN, Gamespot is fairly consistent in what it says.

Also, they have never slashed 3D Mario outside of Sunshine, because 3D Mario is a wonderful, glorious thing to behold.

No, it's the fact that you don't have to pay a fortune in DLC to get the full game that you actually already paid $60 for.

Or the fact that Mario is bursting at the seams with content, as opposed to Forza, which stands as an exercise in excision?

Knack outsold Mario 3D World in the UK, didn't you know? That clearly makes it the better game.

Obviously why it should have been mentioned instead. Playing with sales is glorious.

It's adefinitely a great mario game. But would I even call it "next gen" No. Because it was something I think they could've also done on the wii.

This stands true for every single game on every single console so far. Outside of what, graphics? In which case Mario 3D World also could not have been done on Wii, making it next gen by default.

What does that have to do with the fact that this game is high quality? What you wrote is meaningless if the WiiU manages to gather a good lineup of quality games, as it seems to be doing, unlike the other two consoles.

Nah, the last Mario Platformer I enjoyed was Sunshine on the Gamecube. I'll stick to the Mario & Luigi games and leave the milked platformers alone. I won't say 3D World is a bad game but I'd rather play Killer Instinct, Dead Rising 3, Killzone SF or Resogun instead.

I haven't solidified myself as anything. You're the one so insecure that you feel the need to defend the PS4 and Xbox One (but mostly PS4) in every thread about the Wii U that I make, often when I don't even mention them (like in this thread), and then decide to make a beeline and leave the argument whenever I pretty patiently and rationally show you why you are wrong.

Wow 4 games in one year! I can name 4 games I already have more fun with than Than those 4! Also the Spacing between those games have been really thin. And who are you to tell me what I think's decent and what's not. I've played Pikmin, Mario U and Now 3D world along with Zombi U. And they're great. But once again. Comparing a console that's had a year to build a library or a console that just launched shows such lulzy desperation and grasping at straws.

Wii U has some great games. But taking close to 3 months to get ANOTHER exclusive. lol.

If its the only game worth it then why did Forza 5 get a 9? That seems like a score you give a game that is worth it. I hate review sites sometimes and the stupid comments they make. I'm sure sm3dwu is great, still holding off on the wii u until I see more games coming out at a better rate. Not wanting a wii incident again where there is nothing to play most of the year on the console. Please prove me wrong Nintendo because when you are on point, your games dominate their genres.
