Games that bombed, but you still played/wanted to play them

The two games I can think of in recent memory that I still want to play are DriveClub and Natural Doctrine. Natural Doctrine bombed like hell (currently 52% MC out of 14 reviews), but I'm still interested because it seemed like people just hated the difficulty. With DriveClub, people seem to just not like it's "ordinary-ness". Will hope to get my impressions soon enough. As for games I did play, God of War Ascension comes to mind. Really liked the combat in that game, but it seems like the fans didn't turn out for this one.

What was your experience like, SW? Did you end up enjoying it?

bombed as in hyped, but did poor critically: Probably Too Human, which I regret, that game sucks.

bombed as in no one thought the game was good, but I still was interested or whatever: Papo & Yo

Shadowrun, Tenchu Z, and more recently I've had a great time with Destiny. However, so far my GOTY is Alien Isolation, though I understand it may get frustrating once I get further into it. So far it's nowhere near as bad as some of the reviews have said. Quite the contrary.

Ryse and RE6 are two I bought anyway.

Ryse, I loved the play through.

I still play Destiny...I still play a lot of Destiny.

It was pretty good, but it's not a $60 game.

Ridge Racer 7 and Ninja Blade. Played and beat both. Ridge Racer 7 to this date I think it is the only retail PS3 game that was 1080p/60fps and you play it today and the game's graphics have held up beautifully. Ninja Blade is really underrated.

Suikoden 4 bombed in sales and scores but still liked it a lot and I mean A LOT. I read so much bad stuff about the game I just had to play it to know how a game could be this terrible but it really wasn't. Actually, it was pretty good. The game was just misunderstood.

SoulCalibur Legends - Just bought it like last week. Fun, deep combat.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City - Love this game, I have put many hours into it. Also bought all the campaign DLC for it, and I don't buy DLC very often.

Resident Evil 6 - Love this game too, awesome co-op and four great campaigns.

Thread should just be retitled: "Games you played, in the absence of actual games you wanted to play, because you're a consolite with no better options in the face of a recent slew of highly hyped flops, or many games with long term replayability."

Iron Front Liberation. I really enjoyed it and it scored a 2/10 or something on GS. Though it was reviewed by CP so...

The big one I can think of is Syndicate (the FPS reboot). It was an absolute BLAST to play with friends. Unfortunateky the game suffered a big lack of content, so you burnt out of it within a couple weeks. Had the game featured more content/replayability it would have been a staple MP game for me.

Fun fact: My friends Syndicate was in the top 5 of the world!

A lot. About the only time I will hold back on a game, is if I hear it's just plain broken beyond belief. I like playing horrible games. But I don't dig dishing out 60 for one that is broken.

Duke Nukem Forever I actually finished the game and thought it was ok. In retrospect it was a steaming pile of dung.

Silent Hill Homecoming.. mostly bad reviews but i enjoyed it very much

In recent times:

Sonic All-stars Racing Transformed (3DS) -- wanted to like it, but bugs and frame-rate issues prevented me from doing so. I would sooner recommend the iOS version.

Batman Arkham Origins: Blackgate (3DS)-- A good game, although some of the boss fights were rather tedious.

I still want to try Alien Isolation and Destiny even though they bombed here. A lot of games don't have to be considered great to be fun.

Too Human, Alpha Protocol, Frontlines, Kingdoms of Amalur, Two Worlds 2, Risen 1 & 2, Sacred 2, Sniper Ghost Warrior. I play a lot of bad games lol. Im a major rpg fan so i tend to play even the ones that get low scores. Im currently debating on playing Venetica. Anyone else play it? How was it?

Mega Man X5 and X6, I always thought these two were superior to X4 in every way so it was surprising for me to see that critics were so harsh on them.

I bought X4 and X5 last month for my Vita. It's such a great fit for the system. Started with X4 and still working on that.

Imo ANY game that scores at least a 7 should be checked out at some point, because the reason it has a low score may have nothing to do with the gameplay. Other games too are worth playing if you let the price go right down.

For example, take Superman Returns on the Xbox 360/Xbox etc. It has poor gameplay... wrong. That's the biggest tragedy, EA had good gameplay to the standard of a good Spider Man game or The Incredible Hulk (the good one on Xbox/PS2), but they didn't build enough of a game around it. It's frustrating, they had a formula for a good Superman game.

Duke Nukem Forever. Actually though it was OKish too. Much what I would have expected from a new DN game.

Sonic Lost World

I initially liked Mirror's Edge.

I could easily breeze through the earlier levels, giving a pretty awesome sense of flow, but when I got near the end, I brick walled at some massive pile of construction shit I had to climb.

Trial and error gameplay is fucking stupid. I do think it's funny how they named the lead character after this flawed mechanic though.
