Wow, that's a pretty bold choice. It even beat SW's beloved Witcher 3. What do you think of this list, SW? I think their top 10 choices are not bad. Most of them I think are fair choices, except maybe for Journey. Cool game, but let's be real, it's 2 hours long lol. Also, Mario Oddysey at #11, meh. It was one of the most forgettable Mario games I played in a while.

I recently played The Last of Us Remastered and God of War III Remastered twice each because they were on PS+ , and both hold up realy well. They are special games.

OMG, a list of games based on opinion. So, bold.

I never care much for the rankings per se, but I always enjoy these kind of lists for the memories they bring back (and sometimes the reminders: "oh yeah, I wanted to play that...")

Not a bad choice, wouldn't be my number 1 but I can see why its there at least.

Opinions. I would put Bloodborne much higher and Last of Us much, much lower. Like I said though, opinions.

The list looks like it prioritizes cinematics over gameplay. The only games in the top 5 with great gameplay are BOTW and Portal 2. And Dark Souls and Bloodborne are ranked way too low.

I knew it was number 1 before I even saw the end of the video TLOU is a great game but the media has a hard on for it's writing. Honestly it's not that great it has the typical zombie tropes the story is so overrated for me the best thing about the game is its actual gameplay.

The Last of Us was an amazing game.

Saying it is better than Witcher 3 is comical though.

Shouldnt be above Zelda either.

I think alot of these games getting praise down to A) Easy minimal gameplay where you can just watch half of it B) Adhering to a left-leaning political bias and C) Journalists desperate need for validation by games being "something more" than a very basic "is this shit fun?"

It's why Death Stranding in retrospect will be seen as a deeply embarrassing cringe inducing moment in history, it has all those elements, but is actually a big pile of shit journos, for fear of not being seen as part of the crowd, will delude themselves into thinking it's the lovely fragrant of roses as opposed to the repellent scent of excrement.

Sad.

I'm sorry, but LOU is more a movie than a game... I just don't understand how it can be classed as the best game of the decade.

This industry is seriously too obsessed with these overly cinematic games, with average gameplay.

@hrt_rulz01: I really don't think that's true. I dug it up once, and cinematics were a small % of the game time. Way less than UC4 and HZD if I recall

Honestly I don't care about their placement, as long as the deserving games are somewhere on that list, that's good to me.

I will need to read through it in more detail later, add a lot of those games to my wishlist.

I think it is more the pacing, too, that makes it stand out; instead of "play for five minutes, watch for five minutes" like a lot of "movie games" people complain about, TLOU has you playing for a significant chunk of time, and then cut-scenes are relatively small and sporadic.

It's a good balance between prioritizing narrative, but not at the expense of gameplay.

It's all personal opinion, but my #1 is TLOU.

@xantufrog: I find that hard to believe, because I remember it being full of cutscenes. Anyway, the gameplay was still mediocre.

Just because a game offers more "gameplay" doesn't make it enjoyable. If the gameplay is subpar, and the cinematic game have great assets, then the cinematic game will be liked/loved more.

I liked the old naughty dog, crash and jack and daxter, more about the gameplay and less about story and graphics

i found this promo from naughty dog, celebrating 30 years, you can see how they abandoned creativity for this 3rd person over the shoulder narrative crap, the uncharted money ruined them.

UC just rubbed me the wrong way around the end of UC2 where I switched from murdering hundreds of natives to murdering aliens or whatever creatures those were. Never got into TLOU because zombies and ND don't have the best gun play in their games.

A defensible choice for #1, certainly in the top 10.

ME2 and BotW shouldn’t be there; Minecraft and Dark Souls should both be higher. Not sure where I’d place Fortnite, but top 20 based on its reach and influence is respectable.

I’m a little iffy about Journey’s inclusion, even though I love it front to back.

Portal 2 should be a little lower, but no gripes about its presence.

The biggest forehead pick on this list is Destiny. When good, it’s great, but based on the games behind it overall, they should all be slapped.

I never like these lists.. although the first 20 to 30 games I saw starting with 100 and working down weren't too bad. From there is all went to shit though.. lol.

Everyone has their own list, and for me they are always hard to create. Not sure why I even bother looking at these anymore. I guess it's nothing more than curiosity.

These lists are basically an easy way to get traffic. People get rabble-rabble over choices, or confirmation bias as vast swaft of people are so insecure they need other people to tell them their opinion is relevant.

Just as a practice it gets really repetitive.

If you don't enjoy gameplay... then why even play video games at all? Gameplay and interactivity are what differentiate video games from other media. If you only enjoy video games for the cinematics or assets, then you could get the same enjoyment from movies or TV shows.

When I first played it on PS3, I thought it was good. Not as great as everybody made out. So I thought I'd try it again on PS4 (mainly because there was f*ck all to play back then and I was also recommended the DLC), and my point of view didn't change.

Anyway, whatevs... I think it's overrated. My opinion.

This is just a random list of games. They're trying to be pc by adding a wide variety of games including indie games of very low budget and depth.

The fact that they have "Journey" , GTA5, portal 2 and Skyrim all in the top ten proves that this is not to be taken seriously.

Nobody should have any of those four games in their top from the last decade!!!

2. Even though cinematic video games exist, they should never be in ANY way, shape, of form compared to movies. Even in the likes of Heavy Rain and Detroit Becomes Human (if I got the title right), are still VERY different from films and movies.

Stardew Valley number 12. Hugely impressive, I'm told it was made by one guy. This is quite an achievement. For that, to me it's more impressive than the others that were higher on the list.

Interesting list. I couldn't name 100 games of the last decade that held my interest and many of the games on the list that did hold my interest would be ordered differently. It's interesting to see what games from the previous gen made it in.
