Forza Motorsport could be delayed

Microsoftmay have delayed theForza Motorsportrelease date, it’s been claimed.

Xbox announced last June that the game would be released in the spring of 2023 and said separately it was scheduled for release in the first half of the year.

But during Wednesday’s Xbox and Bethesda Developer_Direct showcase, the latest update on the game only confirmed that it was still targeting a 2023 release, leading to speculation that it may have slipped.

Following the show, Giant Bomb reporter Jeff Grubb said he’d been told the game had been delayed until the second half of the year.

“What I’m hearing—I’m feeling pretty good about this after asking around a couple of times after hearing about it the first time earlier today—it does seem like Forza is going to slip later into the year and probably won’t be the first half of the year,” he said on Thursday.

Grubb added: “The timeframe I’m hearing for Forza is like Q3, and maybe even a little bit later than that.”

VGC has contacted Microsoft to ask if the game is still scheduled for release in the first half of 2023, as announced last year.

During Wednesday’s Xbox showcase, Microsoft confirmed a Minecraft Legends release date of April 18 and a Redfall release date of May 2.

Last year, Bethesda delayed Starfield‘s release from November 2022 to “the first half of 2023”. The game was absent from this week’s presentation as Microsoft has said it’s planning to hold a standalone event at a later date in order to “dedicate the proper amount of time for a deep dive” into the sci-fi RPG.

Meanwhile, a newly updated Forza Motorsport support page confirms that the Xbox Series X/S and PC game will also be playable on Xbox One as a cloud version.

“Forza Motorsport has been built from the ground up to leverage the full power and performance of Xbox Series X/S consoles and deliver our most beautiful, technically advanced game yet,” it reads.

“While there will not be a native Xbox One version of the game, Xbox One players can stream Forza Motorsport through Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) included in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.”

Oh snap! What could possibly go wrong with a racing game? Do you think it will still make it this year, SW? Could be a holiday game.

@SolidGame_basic: meh, this year is stacked. Already have hifi rush, and golden eye, chained echos, 2 persona games, and monster hunter to checkout. Not to mention dead space remake and all the games from 2022. And we're just getting started. Xbox fans are drowning in an embarrassment of riches.

i don’t blame them trying to juggle so many game releases this year. If they only had one game releasing like their competitor, then I would be concerned.

It'll come this year, that's the main thing. It's going to be a packed year for Xbox, unlike PS5.

Starfield is ALREADY delayed, they just haven't told their fans yet.

They gotta keep those Gamepass subs active til the very last moment before they deliver more bad news, they don't want to loose even more money than has already been revealed.

Announced 2017 didn't release til the end of last generation in 2020. So, MS having trouble getting 2d side scrollers out isn't even anything new with MS.

As long as it's releasing in 2023, who cares? It has no official release date.

It would be a nice one-two punch to release Forza in September or October and then release Starfield in November or early December.

Every game Microsoft showed at E3 2022 was "targeting the next 12 months". Forza not releasing before E3 would mean it was delayed, full stop.

@theam0g: Because that would mean Xbox would have delivered a total of one AAA caliber game (Redfall) in like 21 months since Halo Infinite. That's absolutely pathetic for a company that's spent billions buying up developers and years telling folks "we're making things better".

Xbox is slated to have Forza, Starfield and Redfall this year. I am not sure why that is a problem.

FYI.

Holo Lens moved away from gaming and has done very well in industrial settings. Holo Lens2 starts at $3,500. MS discovered years ago there was a boatload of money in totally different settings than gaming. It actually turned out to be interesting tech for maintenance in asset intensive industries. Let's you see a visual representation of complex equipment and machinery, buried infrastructure, access schematics, etc.

I retired last year, but I am very familiar with it and similar industrial solutions. That type of technology, combined with GIS and big data associated with it will be a many $Billion industry in the next 5 - 10 yrs, and it will fundamentally change maintenance in many industries.

From the day we found out about current gen, lems were saying to wait for the 9th gen to begin for us to see what MS is capable of with their 89298 studios. Two years in, and half of that, we haven't seen a single game, and what we saw, the likes of Infinite, it was such a disaster they fired everyone at the studio.
