Forspoken hype thread - Best? Or bestest game?

After the MCU cringe trailer they appear to have put out something much more meat and potatoes.

Still think this game will be a massive flop, and not just because many gamers are largely extremely racist and hate woman and stuff.

I think the game looks quite good myself and the combat and traversal look like they could be lots of fun as well. Thinking it’ll probably get an 8/10 here at GS and around an 84 MC.

Way too early for a hype thread on this.

But in any case, I still have an interest for Forspoken and still like those magic spell attacks so another reason why I'm excited to play it on PC.

Imo this game looks fun. You are given a wide selection of tools to play around with. Powers look cool. Will it sell well? Maybe not.

I am also betting that because they allow you to traverse the environment at insane speeds, that is because its nothing but barren wastelands with absolutely nothing to do nor even look at.

Watching the trailer, all i can say is cool combat system in the wrong game. I would've liked a Monster Hunter-like title (concept wise, not literally like MH) that you play in 4-6 players coop with this kind of combat system.

Don't really care about the main lead, I like the gameplay's using spell attacks is what really sold me but I must admit that hardwenzen is right about one thing. Gameplay/cool combat is in the wrong game's ideal on what SE is going for. SE could have done with this combat style is give it to Dr. Strange and making a Dr. Strange game would have made more sense IMO.

@davillain: Kind of hard to say if gameplay is the right or wrong fit for the game when the game isn’t even out yet. While it does look like it would be pretty good gameplay mechanics for a Dr. Strange game that would require SE to license the IP from Marvel which would entail more then SE just wanting to do that.

Game looks like a dumpster fire. But people said that about Godfall, and I enjoyed Godfall. So I will wait and see.

@Archangel3371: Its call observation from I've seen so far so I'm not looking the other way from Forspoken and still excited nonetheless.

I think the hate mainly comes from those poor vids SE is releasing and not releasing the important details what to expect is why it's getting hated. I don't expect Forspoken to set the world on fire either and just another action- adventure SP is all I want from it.

It looks great. It's basically "Isekai fantasy" meets "Infamous" made by the FFXV team, and while it may not be to everyone's taste, I'm really looking forward to it.

The game also has a performance mode, which is a relief.

This game has never looked good. I don't mind the character, but the world, art direction, and gameplay are so underwhelming. It is just a half-assed effort.

I wouldn't say that. I think there is definitely effort put in there. It doesn't seem lazy or half-assed at all. Just kind of underwhelming. It doesn't have any gameplay or world-building element that makes one go "wow!". Looks decent, graphics are solid, and the magic looks fun but it just seems like one of those games that'll come and go.

I don’t understand what’s so underwhelming about gameplay 🤷🏻‍♂️. The powers look awesome and it seems like you can combine your rather large movement set with your combat abilities in cool ways. Imo gameplay looks way above average for sure.

I'm looking forward to this. Open world rpg stuff could bog it down, but the combat looks fun. Hoping it turns out well.

Looks meh, the uninspired world looks like that or countless other RPGs, this would seemingly be something that would rely on its combat for thrills and even there still looks underwhelming, but at very least the last few months seem to have definitely helped on the performance stability side of things.

Yup, like another Gotham Knights: it doesn't do anything insultingly bad (aside from its performance) but it also lacks the special ingredients needed to make for a memorable experience.

On one hand I root for new ip to succeed, especially in this new world of remakes sucking all the fun out of the room.

On the other, the game doesn't look to stand out in any significant ways. Hope I'll be proven wrong, but every time I see it it feels like a pile of meh....

It doesnt look very good, probably a 5/10 game. I could be wrong and it could end up being an amazing game, but nothing I have seen makes me want to play it and by the comment sections where iv seen footage of it, most people think the same as me. They want £65 for it on Steam for some reason 🤷‍♂️.

That's probably pretty accurate. Like the new Saints Row too. It's a game that's just merely... competent. It doesn't do anything to make a mark. You turn it on and it plays like any other game, but it's balanced out with elements that drag it down. There's probably not much here for franchise potential.

Starting to wonder if this is the unofficial Dragon's Dogma successor we want. And, should it prove to be a good game, will they admit it as such?

I'm guessing they won't lol. Because bad-hype + woman + black person = toxic gamer's nightmare.

Me personally? I think it looks fun. Kind of ugly, but whatever, the game looks fun.

@mrbojangles25: Umm, Dragon’s Dogma is a Capcom game and they recently announced that they are working on a Dragon’s Dogma 2.

"working on" is still a far ways away. I'm just saying, maybe this will be a good substitute for the next few years.

@mrbojangles25: Oh, ok. From how you worded your post there it sounded like you were under the impression that Dragon’s Dogma was a Square-Enix IP and that you didn’t hear that Capcom had announced a DD2 in the works.

Looks like a spiritual successor to Infamous.

Why though? Because the spells are flashy?

We haven't seen what the quests are like. We haven't seen what type of open world objectives there will be. We haven't seen any bosses, or many enemy types. The game might be a complete turd for all we know.

but it also might be great we don't know. we seen some enemy types. the first showing had bosses in the trailer. when it was called project athenia or what ever it was called.

but we all will see in Feb. cant wait.

Honestly it's looking better with each new update and video. I'll probably get it eventually.

I've not seen anything on this game except for once on YouTube, and every now and again when I'm on these forums. :/ The game appeals to me not.

I think the gameplay looks fun. It is the world that hasn't sold me on the game yet. Granted, I have not been keeping track of the game, but I have watched 2 preview videos and it hasn't wowed me yet.
