Fallout 4 may be a permanent Xbox One exclusive

Thoughts about this? Although I have respect for every platform out there, this is just complete bollocks. I mean, for a franchise that started on PC, and now might end up as a "platform" exclusive, is just pure shyte.

I don't plan on buying a Xbox One so I would be pretty pissed if I don't get to play ME2 or Fallout 4.

Bethesda can go suck a d!ck after what they did to Human Head and Prey 2. They can keep their 2003 Gamebryo-engine, bug-ridden games on the xbox.

Yeah right, I'm sure Bethesda will gladly miss out on all of the revenue from the PC and the PS4. A bunch of BS... a huge multiplat franchise like Fallout or TES would never go exclusive, unless MS bought the entire studio...

At best, expect some timed exclusive DLC...

As for Mirror's Edge 2 being X1 exclusive, yeah, that'd make more sense, it's a smaller IP, and if MS really wanted it, I'm sure they could come up with an exclusivity deal with EA... however, don't think it'd be too easy, EA is multiplat developer who wants to expand on every platform...

- will play like fallout 3/Skyrim/oblivion
- will rely on mods to make it a decent game

The money handed over will have to be more than the lost sales on other platforms. We are talking games that will shift millions so the cost must be 100/200Million odd plus.

With 100/200 million MS or Sony could make a couple of classic exclusies and still have the BIG game on there system.

This is nothing more than blatant protectionism. Instead of trying to offer goods and services that make people wnat to buy the Xbone, they instead resort to exploiting their position and attempting to warp the game industry by throwing money at any developer they can.


Outside of 1st party developers, exclusivity agreements do nothing but damage the industry. They hinyder innovation by making developers responsible to console manufacturers instead of gamers.

It wont be exclusive, i can even bet you my very own balls on that.

Very little chance of that happening, it simply wouldn't be financially viable to spend a huge chunk of that money on a single game...

I can see ME2 being on X1 as an exclusive... However, I highly doubt that Bethesda is going to cause disention by allowing a great selling franchise like that go to just one patform especialy since modding their games is so big... I expect to see it on the PS4, X1, and PC. Bethesda knows it has a large fanbase with it's Fallout and Elder Scrolls franchises.... this would make absolutely no sense at all unless a few hundred million of that billion went into just that one game. It could be a sleeper, but it is by far a long shot I would not be betting on... don't hold your breath.

If this was an exclusive along with Killer Instinct.... that would be HUGE however... seriously, it would be hard to beat THAT at E3.... Things would get real interesting real fast, that;s for sure. ;)

like I said before I don't see this happening.... however, a piece of me almost wants it to happen. At this point the X1 and the fanbase need some good news. It isn't that I feel sorry for Microsoft.... no, they can burn.... however, it would be nice for the user base.

The fact that Microsoft cancelled pre show and after show talks at E3 should have some people worried however.... It might just be because they are still not ready to talk about a few things, but if they are skimping on games after lying about that aspect many many times.. well, I don't think that will turn out well, and it is a good thing they decided to cancel them. It might have more to do with giving the bad news that many of the bigger games will not be available at launch and will be releasing in 2014 though... that is one of my guesses.

M$ is not willing to spend the money it would cost to make a game like Fallout 4 exclusive. If they were they would buy something like CoD, Madden or Fifa instead. Early DLC is the most that will happen.

You want to know why this worked a decade ago and won't work now? Sony was "the man" then, and while the N64 was somewhat successful, it wasn't as nearly as successful as its predcessors, so PS2, GC and Xbox roll around and guess what? The PS1 was a huge success, the GC was succeeding a somewhat disappointment N64 (sales wise) and the Xbox was the new kid on the block.

Fast forward to the releases of the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii and you (along with the developers) realize that more sales (and money) can be found by not having as many exclusives. The original Xbox did probably more well than people expected, the PS2 dominated obviously but the Xbox 360 came out first and started off very strong.

It won't happen, and it shouldn't happen. Microsoft would be stupid to throw away millions...and a lot of millions, for at least Fallout 4. That could probably be made back by not being exclusive, and along with the obvious slew of DLC that is bound to come out. Mirror's Edge 2 is more likely, but that's EA this is EA we're talking about.

It cost MS $50Million to get the 1 year timed DLC for GTA4. What do you think the price of life time exclusiveness for Fallout 4 would be?

I agree with both of these statements. Not a chance that fallout 4 goes exclusive. Maybe it gets the dlc, thats it. And again, I agree with the mirrors edge comment, since when did this game turn into one of the greatest games ever made?? (obvious slight sarcasm...)
