Epic Games reveals first Unreal Tournament Deathmatch

Yep Epic is very much involved in making this game. There going to provide all the standard content for the game. DLC will all be free from them. Deathmatch is there first priority and everything that made UT great.

If anyone didn't see the other thread earlier these are prototype of UT maps made with UE4 tools. I'm not sure if they set up a base for what the style of the maps will be for modders but I guess we will find out soon enough. However, I did read in the forums they want it to look clean and sharp like the maps below.

meh....UT3 was such a let down

i remember that gun from ut. you can do the alternate fire, then shoot that 'blob' with the primary fire. 'twas baws.

anyway that seems to be coming along nicely.

I'm going to give them credit getting a lot of work done in short notice. I think the modders should get a ton of credit for helping develop the game for free .

The new UT is returning to its original roots.

And by 'console focused', you mean there are minimal options for graphical settings. UT3 virtually had everything UT2004 had, with the exception of 1 or 2 of my favorite modes in UT2004.

So by making this PC exclusive, what could this UT bring to the table that UT3 couldn't or hasn't? Don't get me wrong, I like playing UT, and was disappointed that no one played UT3 online. However, I don't entirely share your opinion that the lack of players several years back was due to the so called 'focus'. I'm just afraid that there aren't many arena players around anymore.

From it's state, it seens like it's going to take a long time for it to release.

The most important feature these guys are making is a tool set for modders. Who cares what you think about UT. UT is a starting point, a drop in the bucket that will be lost among waves of awesome user created content.

Good to see they are starting it from scratch rather than upgrading a previous game with new maps to UE4 and calling it new. I have high hopes for this game because it will get me back into arena shooters. I hope they include Fragball mode.

UT3's Issue was that they dropped Malcolm as the series mascot halfway through and replaced him with a Marcus Fenix knockoff.

It's PC only.

The last relevant unreal game was unreal tournament 2003/2004 and it's original creators aka digital extremes made it.

So long as there are low ping servers and plenty of players not full of bots. However all the fragfest type of games get old pretty quick and no way they'll be able to use very many features of UE4 engine for a game of this type.

While unreal tournament 2003 developed by digital extremes added new gameplay mechanics like wall jumping and double dodge jumping and double jumping..

If you dont care that de isnt involved with the project then u simply dont give a **** about the unreal franchise and you arent a unreal fan it's that fucking simple.

Unreal 4 will be epic just like the old Unreal games.
It may not fit 'ALL' gamers these days but it will be hardcore.
I am of those who enjoyed Unreal Tournament 3 Black as well.
