EA Apologizes To Nintendo For Unacceptable April Fools Joke

EA has officially apologized for a what it has judged to be a couple of mean-spirited April Fools' jokes at Nintendo's expense, tweeted out by its proprietary video game engine Frostbite.

The tweets, which have since been deleted, came from Frostbite's official account and ridiculed the Wii U for being underpowered.

"Good news, we have finally fixed and optimized our 'netcode'. Uses quantum entanglement for Zero Latency connections. Exclusively on #WiiU."

"Frostbite will power #HalfLife 3, coming out summer 2014! #WiiU exclusive."

"Frostbite now runs on the #WiiU since it is the most powerful Gen4 platform, our renderer is now optomized for Mario and Zelda."

It appears EA didn't see the funny side. Not only were the tweets taken down, but EA's Chief Operating Officer Peter Moore apologized from his personal Twitter account, calling them "unacceptable" and "stupid."

If you are taking about Peter Moore I highly doubt he hates nintendo. Only some people within EA don't like Nintendo that much most likely.

Everyone knows Peter is just trying to save face for Public Relations. The Actions of EA speak louder than what Peter can give out.

It's clear the employment of EA wants nothing to do with Nintendo period.

Saying that the Wii U is part of the Gen 4 systems is more of an insult.

EA refers to the current generation as Gen 4 internally. They start counting gens with the advent of 3D gaming, so PS1/N64/Saturn are Gen1, PS2/DC/GCN/Xbox are Gen 2, and so on. According to them, anyway.

The funny thing is, Nintendo themselves actually never responded to the jokes at all. Neither did Nintendo fanboys say or do much of anything. It was all Kotaku, who decided to take it upon themselves to call EA out.

Kotaku has a history making articles out of nothing.
