And so we turn to our most esteemed video gaming artisans from the nation of France, Ubisoft, whose long and prestigious history of artistic innovation and universal acclaim have such monumental impact upon our humble industry, that this year they have deemed it fitting - nay, honoured us all - to bestow upon their masterpieces their mark of elevated esteem and guarantee of quality; the prestigious label of "Ubisoft Originals."

And now, after yet another year filled to the brim with critically-acclaimed, industry-defining Ubisoft Originals, Ubisoft returns to E3 to reveal more Ubisoft Originals to awe and wow us in the months and years to come. What a blessed time it is for us, to be alive to experience these finely-crafted Ubisoft Originals. It is therefore my pleasure - nay, my humble privilege - to present to you, ladies and gentlemen, Ubisoft Forward 2021.

You may breathlessly catch a glimpse of the upcoming Ubisoft Originals through the Twitch service here:

Or if you choose, you may stand in applause as Ubisoft Originals are unveiled on the YouTube website here:

This most momentous of occasion begins in 19 hours.

Interested in seeing the VR titles. Namely, Splinter Cell.

Not sure if they will show it here. Due to the nature of VR, typical Ubisoft shit will be limited or non-existent guessing.

It may actually be good, who knows.

Might actually be a pretty safe bet. I mean, they showed a friggin' TV show a couple years back.

It's crazy how I feel completely fed up with playing another Ubisoft Open World, and yet Far Cry 6 has me excited.

Just the right number of improvements, and Ubisoft does it again. Pfffft.

I am definitely fed up with the open world Ubi formula too... FC was the only series that I had any interest in anymore, and not even 6 is making me excited.

I sometimes like to munch on plain salted tortilla chips. No dip, no seasoning, no additional flavouring of any kind. Just corn and salt. There's something weirdly satisfying about its bland simplicity.

That's how I see Ubisoft open world games. At least, that's how I try to explain why they keep selling.

Will this be the year for Ubisoft to discuss more on Beyond Good & Evil 2? I hope so cause it's almost been 4 years since we last heard about it, much less the reveal trailer came and went into the beyond:

Loading Video...

As for complaining about open-world games, you gamers sure love to hate on them and I actually love open-world games myself.

I liked For Honor. I feel the Assassins Creed series has ran its course. I don't feel Ubisoft has anything that excites me anymore. Maybe they have something new up their sleeve?

If their goal is just to breathe new life into games when monetization slows, just bring it all, the game and DLC, $20 flat, this tried and true method has been around for decades. The branding is consistent with that, but how about price(?), and expansion content(?), that stuff matters.

They make some stuff that I like such as:

- Assassin’s Creed

- FarCry

- Immortals: Fenyx Rising

- Mario x Rabbids

So I’m interested in seeing some of what they might show off tomorrow. Might check out the stream or maybe the highlights.

The ones you can buy in stores is flat and just tasteless.

Some things I like in Far Cry 6

- Weapons look more grounded in a guerrilla warfare setting. There is an SKS, AK, PPSh, ... Old school weapons

- Same thing with the cars: it's a nice setting & style for the vehicles.

- The villain seems like a match for Far Cry 3's Vaas

- First Far Cry game that has a city

- First Far Cry game that has social stealth (before the enemies would always 100% agro whenever they saw the player)

5 hours.

While we're all waiting, you might be interested in checking out the Guerrilla Collective and Wholesome Games showcases. I decided not to do a thread on them because the Guerrilla Games stream is technically day 2 of their showcase so I'm a bit late to the party, while Wholesome Games is a bit of an unknown quantity. Plus, going by the latter's description, I'm pretty sure I'm going respond to everything they show with "how cute" said through clenched teeth, before I spontaneously vomit rainbows.

Anyway, here's where you can check them out:

Guerrilla Collective: Twitch, IGN-hosted stream on YouTube, starts in 1 hour.

Wholesome Games: YouTube, starts in 3 hours.

Agree, they are entertaining 😁! Some of the other shows are just trailer after trailer. Ubisoft still dares to put on a show, even though people will laugh at them! Bring on the memes!

Aisha Tyler was probably one of my favourite E3 hosts.

Ubisoft's show is at least entertaining, eventhough their business practices can be very cynical :P

Welp, just sat through Guerrilla Collective Day 2. Kind of a blur. Most games I wasn't interested in, but a few looked nice. Still, decent show to pass the time while occasionally checking in on the ongoing slapstick comedy that is the cricket.

15 minutes to the Wholesome Direct. Kittens and puppies optional.

She always said the weirdest stuff! But she had great energy for sure! Not too much energy like Mr Caffeine though 😅!

I don’t think they are too evil. It’s a tough business. For me it’s mostly them drifting away from the types of games I love to more tedious genres (imo). But yeah, I think their conferences are typically among the best.

Wow, not entirely what I expected at all. Most of it is Animal Crossing-esque life sims and Journey and Abzu-style picturesque chill-em-ups, plus a few platformers. One or two even had a little bit of social commentary. Really jam-packed as well, but no presentation issues as to be expected from inexperience. They probably got a few pointers from the Guerrilla Collective, who they seem to be pretty close to.

Still, my reaction was exactly as expected:

Anyway, on to the main event. One hour to go.

Eh. Whatever floats people's boats.

Personally, I'm a bit of a multi-tasking addict. My setup right now is this: Ubisoft stream on my gaming PC, typing this post on my laptop, and following the football on my phone. Don't ask me how, but I made it work.

10 minutes.

It's a simple decision really. I'd rather watch Belgium's "golden generation" than Ubisoft. You could watch both at the same time.

Yeah, they were going to postpone it, but then the players demanded to play on, so they restarted.

Rainbow Six: Extraction first. Another bloody multiplayer horde shooter. Off to a flying start, aren't we Ubisoft?
