During which retro gaming era you grew up?

Was born in -87, so voted for the nineties. First PC was a 386 or a 486, played a plethora of DOS games. PC was my main gaming machine until Dreamcast was released, after that it was console and PC gaming. Now it's just consoles for me.

I'm from early 80's so I mainly played on the NES in my early years. I also played the Atari 2600 but it was almost impossible to play. I have most of my gaming memories on the SNES and some on the N64 when I was a teen.

I almost skept the PS2 gen and really got back into gaming when the PS3 came out ... it was a hard time. I've found some jem on the PS4 but still, left me a little hungry.

I've got a SNES classic and my those were good games.

I was born in the 80's but I have no desire to go back and play 80's and 90's games the 00's where actually my favorite era of gaming but I do miss going to the arcades from 90's.

Nah, those were the good old days when gaming was outside playing hide and go seek, kick the can, baseball, football, basketball etc.

I think Pong first came out 1972 and was my first introduction into gaming. The rest is history. :P

I was born in 1975, but did not start playing a video game until 1982 around the time of the video game crash. Has been on and off gaming since the 1980s.

For all of our disagreements, your gaming history is almost exactly the same as mine except I had Atari 2600 instead of the commodore 64...everything else is ALMOST exactly the same.

But after Dreamcast I moved to Xbox because I was butthurt and blamed Sony for Sega's downfall.

Early 90s (16 bit era and arcade).

I went PS because a buddy of mine was always bringing his PS1 to my apartment. So Funcoland got my old Sega stuff and I got a PS1. I got my first Xbox after my second PS2 DRE'd on me and another friend suggested it. But I got another PS2 down the road of course. I have my preferences and for my own reasons but I always buy/play what I want to. Not what reviewers say is good.

80s. But I don’t play 8 bit anymore. I play lots of 16 bit though. Snes is probably still my favorite console of all time.

instead of the commodore 64? the c 64 is way better. But of course the sega is kind of on the same level as the c64 (caine had to be a rich kid, getting two systems of the same generations lol)

The atari 2600 was my first system, after that I bought a c64, I wanted a sega but my granddad said a computer would be better because then I would learn to work with a computer. A couple of weeks after I was in the school paper with my computer (this is rural europe, mid eighties), a lot of people didn't even know what it was.

I stuck with a computer (amiga 1000) till I got the sega mega drive. Then I quit gaming for a while, till I saw one of my college friends play unreal on a voodoo 2 sli system.

I kinda blamed sony too, but it wasn't really their fault, sega made very bad business decisions.

I can't play a lot of c64 games anymore either, mostly because a lot of them were arcade ports or had better versions on the amiga, (like international karate +)

All in all it's only a handfull of games from the eighties and nineties that I still would play and that's double dragon, ik+, streetfighter II, golden axe I & II, and mortal kombat.

As for 3d games I even have a hard time playing x360/ps3 games lately. In the beginning I kinda liked the backwards compatibility program on the xboxone but a lot of those games really start to show their age, even in remasters.

Early 2000's games I can't even stand to look at that, heads with major polygons sticking out lol.

Born in '84 I grew up on mostly PC gaming on a 386 computer and the Super Mario series on NES and got a touch of the SNES at my cousins house.

Gotta love assumptions. I was raised the youngest of 4 by my late mother who had Multiple Sclerosis. She lost the use of her legs by the time I was 13. Raised on the Grand Concourse in the Bronx, NY we were anything but rich LOL. I remember shop lifting dinner from the local supermarket when dad would disappear and not pay child support.

He was usually good at Christmas however by the mid 1980s and bought my handicapped sister the c64 in 1984. It wasn't looked at as a gaming system by anyone in my family until I borrowed floppy disks from friends that had video games on them. "Who dares wins" being the first.

Christmas 1986 my oldest brother got into Local 46 which earned him better money and he bought me the Sega Master System. Money was never anything my mom had in abundance.

My first experiences were with late 70's games,i enjoy more playing retro games now than this era games,don't know i think all games from all consoles have become stale,god of war,halo,zelda is just the same with some changes,the spark is not there anymore.

2000s. Most games from then can't even be considered "retro" as old as they are. There's people on these forums that have had their accounts longer than I've been born, haha.

I didn't mean it that seriously. I forgot you live in the states for a moment, to me these kind of situations are unheard of. Socialism does have its advantages.

Most retro games sucks by today standards, there are not a lot of super Mario world or Chrono trigger there aged well, so, no, I don't play retro games.

And i agree with Democratic socialism on some parts. There is enough evidence to show it has plusses.

Born in 91, so I'd say late 90's early 2000's.

My parents had an intelivision but I was really too young to play, I only remember playing that years later as a retro experience. I really started gaming late in NES era or start of SNES era.

My sitter had an Intellivision back in the early eighties. I only remember playing Baseball and Dungeons and Dragons on it. I remember always wanting one of my own though.
