Yeah I found that to be pretty cool.
Why'd you post this here? To spark more anti-esports discussions?
Why'd you post this here?
To see if consoles can compete in such categories.
If its anything like the e-sports official article a few weeks ago on the home page and its comments, all you will get is trolls and casuals going "lol sad people watching other people play games" .... then go on about how much they love football... the irony.

The sad thing is they don't know how competitive a game can really be because all they play is CoD or Madden.
It's an DIGITAL SPORTS. Anyways ESPN is just streaming it due to the amount of viewers. Doesn't make it labeled as an actual sport.
Anyways, EG gonna take gold. Thx based Arteezy.
Yeah I'm expecting EG to win as well. DK is playing really well right now, almost just as well as EG, especially in spontaneous plays. In the long run RTZ 2 gud.

Oh, I laughed hard.
Awesome, glad to see gaming getting recognized as a real sport now.
General gaming in itself is not a sport lol.
Just certain titles, like MOBAs, RTS, FPS and Fighters or anything that can be competitive. Action adventure games for example could not be considered a sport lol.

It will be on EsPN 3 and DOTA /E-sports is still not a real sport.

@parkurtommo:
You're very welcome. Feel like an athlete yet?
I don't understand what that has to with anything. Athleticism is not intrinsic to sports. The definition for sports doesn't mention any limits as to how much physical input it requires; clicking a mouse or pressing a key is physical input. The mental aspect in e sports however exceeds most accepted sports... It's ridiculous that you feel the need to be so regressive. You're like an old man refusing to accept new things. :^)

It was a joke, bud. Nothing serious from me..almost ever here. That being said, you're fucking bonkers if you think playing videogames constitutes a sport. It doesn't.
It is or can be competitive, but not a sport.
but not a sport.
You aren't giving any reasons as to why you think that.
Definition: an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.
Spot on, but people seem to want to destroy that definition and help make kids fatter.
but not a sport.
You aren't giving any reasons as to why you think that.

Yes yes, there isn't intense physical activity going on within the players body... But the thing is... The heroes they are playing are fighting, running and jumping! I know it might not make sense if you're close minded. But the definition of sports doesn't actually say that the physical exertion has to be done by humans. :D The spectators do not see the body of the players, they see the heroes that they are playing and identify them by the player's name. Arteezy is "Razor", Dendi is "Pudge, ect.
But I don't expect you to understand or even attempt to understand. I completely understand where you are coming from as there is a huge disconnection between nerds that play DOTA 2 and the athletes partaking in NFL... But putting that aside, you can logically include e-sports as a recognized sport.

I seriously can't believe I just read this shit. Come on, man.
Rofl no, i don't know why nerds are trying so desperately to think a game is a sport.

Yes I am. It's a sport for the spectators (which is all that matters). There are no athletes involved, the players are not being seen. The heroes are representations of the players and their intentions. I don't understand why you guys are finding this to be far fetched.
but not a sport.

You don't understand why WE are finding this far fetched? I'm done lol, I honestly don't know where to take this with this thought process.
...still not a sport
Word, ESPN also broadcasts garbage like poker, spelling bees and soccer. Doesn't make them sports either.
Football>every other sport.
That's why america loves the NFL
Yup, I agree with him 100%. Football is awesome.

Fine... I know it's hard to understand in a defensive point of view.

A sport incase you missed the other posters post, is a physical activity. And calling an apple a carrot doesn't make that it so, even if you imagine you are eating a carrot.
Also why is it important for anyone to call something a thing its clearly not?

I honestly don't know. I myself don't find it important for e-sports to be on the same level of commonly accepted sports because they involve a superior mental involvement and intensity... But I'm getting a vibe from people who say that it's not a sport; like they're devaluing it for the same reasons.
But yeah, my argument is flawed... I'm being too imaginative.
Welp, sports fans surely get terrified and ridiculously defensive when something that involves using your brain is considered remotely close to a sport...
Wich reminds me:
Definition: an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.
Playing a videogame is an activity, winning a videogame requires skill, individuals or teams compete against each other in a videogame match for entertainment

It's most definitely not a muscle.
lol, sport my ass.
Yep. ESPN promotes spelling bees too, so I guess that's a sport as well.

It is a physical thing though (thus using your brain is an act of physical exertion o.O). Semantics...
