Does nobody else get nostalgic hearing the noise their consoles make?

The Dreamcast is a noisy beast, makes a grinding sound reading discs but damn is it iconic.

My XBOX 360 is like a wind turbine but... iconic.

PS3... it's noisy but not close to the other two.

PS4 make no noise and PC makes none either, but the PC is user preference.

OG XBOX is noisy but it's a consistent non annoying wind noise that the 80mm fan makes.

Hearing my PS4 Pro spin up like a turbine doesn't really do it for me. I thought we were talking boot noises for a moment, and had a couple ideas (PS1/PS2/GC.) As it is... No.

Anything with a disc drive makes a lot of noise. We ought to get rid of them......

Yep, I was thinking of the boot noises, too.

Nostalgia grips me when listening to these.

@DragonfireXZ95: That 95 and XP really got me lol. I remember booting up the PC in my old houses common area in the UK and playing video games... That was the life.

Well not really the mechanical noises such as fans and drives but the boot up jingles can make me a bit nostalgic.

"PS4 make no noise"

Its like a jet at full load. Only the switch makes no noise and old cartridge consoles.

Sort of, as the Saturn's and Dreamcast's drive noises will always be memorable to me - In particular, using the Dreamcast's to help determine and avoid random encounters in Skies of Arcadia, lol.

Hell yes I do. Not the mechanical sounds, I mean the intros. The Switch is dissapointingly silent compared to Nintendo's other consoles. :(

Getting nostalgic over home console noise is like getting nostalgic over the sound of old traffic signals (the ones with the GO and STOP signs).

Some intro logos make me nostalgic like these ones but not actual physical hardware noises.

I wear my headphones all the time so I really can't hear fan noises, even when my GPU fans are at max for that matter.

I can hear my PC's watercooler gurgle for a second when I power it on, but that's mostly it. The fans in there have a very quiet hum; not so much to be annoying, just kind of like ambient noise almost. It's nice.

@mrbojangles25: My PC with a 2080 and i7-7700k is quieter than my PS4 Pro. When I hear my Pro spin-up, i'm so not used to the noise that it throws me for a loop.

Haha same. I have to do a double-take, like "Woh is something wron--oh, no, that's just what an optical drive, hard disk drive, and cheaply built computer sounds like."

I miss old pc noises. With the startup beeps and the old “dun duunnnn!” When starting up Windows 3.1. For consoles I like wm quiet like all Nintendo consoles have been.

I might get a sound"proof" mat, as i'm changing my TV stand, and it's going to have metal shelves... It's gonna be really bad.

@mrbojangles25: hahaha. No. But they are engraved into my memory banks. It used to take so much effort and time to do a quick search for someone or respond to instant messages. Sometimes had to listen to those sounds mutiple times while searching for a server just to get “online”. Man times have changed as I respond to this using my Iphone with 4g lte and wifi lol.

@gameofthering: lol. The Dreamcast wind tunnel was hilarious. Same with PS1 when it had trouble reading a disc. I thought it was trying to take flight sometimes ???

Not really a fan of mechanical noises, however, I do miss some of the game startup jingles.

'Seegaaaaa' always brings a nostalgic tear to the eye☺

I will say consoles definitely make weird noises... like compared toa lot of things like air conditioners/toasters/ovens etc they are like these really unique machines for whatever the reason.
