Do you think Horizon Zero Dawn will be a flop?

Reviews i have no clue. But it should do ok in sales as its a very appealing game. Even if reviews are not that great, the appeal should carry it.

It gives me Ubisoft vibes, so if it's anything like Primal then it will be a good 7/10 game in my books.

Personally I think it looks OK... nothing special. Very pretty.

When they 1st reveal this game(I think E3 2015) it looked impressive.

But the more they show gameplay clips, the more mediocre vibes I'm getting.

I don't know...Guerilla Games only is known for Killzone, and those games are all very "meh". I mean when was the last time someone talked about Killzone? And be honest, you only played those because they were the only* shooter on PS at the time.

Horizon: Zero Dawn is also an open world game, it might suffer from that dilution that occurs when you have a big open world with too many stupid, pointless things to do. It makes your game meaningless, soulless.

But...robotic Jurassic ecosystem? That's cool!

It looks like it will be alright but of course there still questions. Tackling open world these days is not an easy shore hopefully the rpg element is strong. Can't think of a Microsoft exclusive to really compare this too let alone a franchise at that to topple TC. In fact even on PS4 it kinda stand out as far as exclusives go so hopefully its good.

It's from the makers of the flop franchise, Killzone, so the bar and standard is set low for this one. And since the bar and standard is so low, this will likely not flop. But with that said, just like Killzone, one of the things that will be hyped to death is the graphics. But it will be interesting to see how much of a difference the graphics from the weak original PS4 compare to the Pro will be.

Could go other way. Guerilla has been a "good, not great" developer on most of their games. They are usually technically solid. It's just a matter of whether they deliver a 7/10 "RPG lite" experience that you can beat in 10-15 hours (which is what I'm affraid of) - or whether they can deliver a more fleshed out experience. Then again, most RPG's with "fleshed out" experiences just make you do a bunch of fetch quests. So I guess we'll see.

It's hard to see it being a disaster though. Everything about it looks at least solid.

I like what I've seen of it. Hope for the best. I like when creators come out of their comfort zone. KZ2 and 3 were great, 1 and SF were meh. So GG is going into uncharted waters

Well the story has already been leaked and it's...something.

It looks like an RPG to me. I mean: It does have a very interesting setting (far cry primal + Terminator) but the gameplay I've seen looks very similair to other RPGs.

So I hope the gameplay is captivating enough for a great game, because the setting certainly looks like it is.

As for now I trust Guerilla.

No, it won't, it will get predictable and probably the missions will be repetitive but overall it will be a pretty solid game.

Killzone 2 and 3 on the PS3 were great games. To this day they are still the best looking shooters I've played. I own halo 4 and I've played the last 5 cod games. I'd take killzone over those games any day. If it weren't for the server being dead I'd still be playing killzone on my PS3.

Guerilla are terrible.They have yet to make a good game.

Doubt it'll flop, not expecting to be blown away either. Guerilla has history of meh but pretty games and this is their first jump to open world games(they have acquired people from cdpr and bethesda for this) so who knows what'll happen. Might not pick it up day one but down the road most likely, not exactly bleeding for games to play with Nioh and Nier on the way.

This game will be the make it or break it for the floundering PlayStation.

I wouldn't say it's gonna flop, I mean the Killzone games did well critically outside of the first game shitting the bed. But I'm less enthusiastic about it, in the generation of the open world game. What looked like a fun, novel, different take, now suddenly looks to me like....yep there will be an upgrade system that won't add a lot ot the game, a whole bunch of copy/pasted mission designs that will take up a majority of the run time, a pretty open world but with none of the mechanical sandbox depth you get from a Metal Gear Solid V or a Hitman, and then I'm also reminded I only ever liked the multiplayer in Killzone 2. That shit was good in spite of its controls.

The rest of Guerilla's decision making? Suspect as ****. Core mechanics that can be at odds with each other in the main game, creatively boring encounter designs, and unsatisfying systems as as the mechanics you work with. Maybe a demo would change my mind. But I'm less excited for the game.

I'm looking forward to Horizon. It looks like it could be a good game. As for "flopping", it depends on what your definition of flopping is. I don't think it will get anything lower than an 8 but you can't really base that off of a few preview videos.

Indeed but the one thing it's got going for it is, as long as it's got Phony on the box, GS and it's ilk will worship even a broken mess of a game. :P

Something about it always bring Ubisoft to my mind, in a bad way, but i think it will be a nice game with scores between high 70s and low 80s. Flop or not is subjective, though, not sure what scores people are expecting.
