Because I do. The NES, SNES and 64 were all straightforward, awesome consoles, albeit I personally did not mess with the 64 too much, as the original Playstation dominated me around that time. And I'm not saying that their later consoles did not have good games, or were not good consoles in and of themselves, but they were.....weird. The GameCube was subtly weird, but the Wii and Wii U were full blown weird. I won't go so far as to say "gimmicky", as that smacks of hating, but nonetheless I wish Nintendo would just make a standard, non-avant-garde machine again. I mean, the games could still be classic Nintendo style, but do we really need all this motion capture crap, controllers that are like portable televisions, or, now, a console that is basically a transformer? Gen after gen they are getting more absurd with their design choices. It's like Nintendo thinks they have to create hardware that looks and operates like it was conceived of in a fever dream to succeed. I just don't find any of it necessary. It's the games that matter imo, not exotic hardware design.
Anyway, venting a little. What do you think?
