Earlier today, I switched from BF3 back to skyrim so as to download this new patch that would fix some issues. Then I realised something wrong. Just as I was a couple of minutes in, my flame atronach was taking fire damage. This was irregular because they are immune to fire. So then I check online and surely there's a major issue Thus, I urge you not to download this patch until it is fixed as otherwise you will not only have no resistance to magic or disease etc, dragons will also fly backwards.

Oh man, the dragon flying backwards part is almost reason enough for me to install the patch. I can't believe the resistances being bugged made it through QA for the patch, though. Okay, being Bethesda, I can believe it, as they don't seem to have QA.

Somehow I am not surprised. They should totally keep dragons flying backward as a new feature though. Just like giants launching you a mile into the air is totally a feature.

If this was any other game, people would be using it as hate material, but it's ok for Skyrim haha.

Wow, Bethesda. Get your s*** together. Ever since Oblivion, I have waited at least one year from release to buy their games. Waited a year for Fallout 3 and New Vegas and it looks like I'll be doing the same for Skyrim.

I don't think the patch has been out as long for PC - people on Reddit's Skyrim section recommending not updating till it's confirmed. If it's affecting both the PS3 and 360, I see no reason why it won't affect the PC either :[

I was just being a proper system warrior ;) Unfortunately, I don't get a choice since Steam automatically updated earlier. Don't even have a character in a position to test things due to school etc...

Edit: Besides, consolites do seem to think issues like this are PC exclusive.

What they should have done is just forget about attempting patches and release the creation kit. Let the modders fix the game, just like they know they should.

dl'd it this morning and didn't notice anything unusual.

some blood dragon that i had never seen before caught me out in the open and it flew fine and my resistances were fine as i fought it.

it bugs me you don't get patch notes as to what it does like you do almost everytime you dl a pc patch.

Patch has been taken down already. Couldn't even download it now if you wanted to. Great job, Bethesda. The patch did more harm than good. I really wanted to play this again, but I guess I'm gonna have to do the same thing I did with Fallout: New Vegas: Not play it for several months, then hopefully the game will be without serious issues by then.

I undestand and love the idea of patching, but what does it tells us of the developers if they have to patch everything and some of the patches damage other parts of the game? I'm confused.

Not really. However stuff like the new sound card that trashed my SLI setup so badly that I had to reinstall Windows... that never seems to happen on my PS3. (Disclaimers that are sadly required here: yes, I checked card seating and bridge seating, yes, I tried a clean install of Nvidia's drivers, yes, I have good hardware from reputable manufacturers, and no, I am not making up how I spent last evening because it's convenient for my argument. I would have been accused of all of these, at a minimum, so let's get them out of the way now.)

Just remember that an issue such as yours is far from common.

Personally, I rarely have any issues between my Asus G74SX and my I7-920/GTX460SLI rig, but I'm sure we'll agree that PCs do benefit hugely from intimitate knowledge and that it's absolutely required to a degree.

Especially drivers, is a topic that is much too convoluted for your average person.

Hell, a guy from my class started out knowing Java but had no idea how to install Windows, it's amazing how many of the "basics" are completely lost on people and sufficiently user-friendly, interactive tutorials simply don't exist...

I consider the troubleshooting something you learn to love, but (hopefully) having a future career in the (non-gaming) industry ahead of me, I'm probably biased ;)

Quite the opposite in my case. A career in IT is now why I hate troubleshooting and what drove me to prefer consoles.

classic bethesda. these are not bugs..just undocumented features. dragons flying backwards....cassic game design that. maybe next time bethesda shoudl take all these bugs..mash em into a game and release it for the laugh. come up with new and creatve bugs also :P. i wonder what they actually fixed to make the dragons fly backwards.....thats a sign of some seriously fubar code. its probably an easy fix though (change a 1 to a -1 :P).
