Did God of War take away the epic boss fights?

I'm a few hours in and so far there hasn't been a single one. One of the series' signature was the epic fights against gargantuan monsters of biblical size. It appears there isn't any in this one. Most boss fights so far have been kinda meh with fairly sized but unimpressive foes.

So do we get the huge fights like the Poseidon fight? Doesn't look like we do.

Edit: Never mind lol. I kept playing and got my answer 30 minutes after making this thread.

GoW3 still reigns supreme to me....the graphics are amazing but everything else was better in Gow3.

Yeah that level of epic scale is gone I think. Maybe that dragon fight is close to that scale and I think there is more optional quest to this not sure. The optional fights are fuckin str8 up cool though. Had a fight with a Valkyrie on challenging mode which opened up more optional Valkyrie fights quest. No scale but just f***in str8 up get gud souls cool. Of course I need to keep playing... erm gow fans keep playing.

I actually prefer the combat in this one. Much less spammy and you gotta be more focused and alert. I just wished there were more weapons.

I'm not too far in but I enjoyed the first "boss" fight. I like the way it went down and it wasn't all about just beating the boss. There was bits of plot sprinkled all over it adding to the mystery of the game.

I swear. Between here and Era, I've seen more people trying to convince others to keep plodding along through a game more so than any other game. A good game shouldn't need this scale of convincing for people to play it.

I get that people what to reboot and reinvent their games. Ninty did it with BOTW, and it was excellent. Sony just rebooted God of War DE and made it the same as all their other games. That formula is a bit worn out for those that like diversity.

So to you third person is a worn out concept? The only similarities that are here are superficial.

To your question. Yes. Third person cinematic single player games can be worn out. If 90% of Nintendo software was platformers that all played and looked alike, it would be worn out. If 90% of MS software was fast action FPS shooters that all looked and played the same, it would be worn out. Sony is no different.

So Bloodborne and Uncharted look and play alike in your opinion? Just making sure I have you right. Saying that God Of War plays like the other sony first party games outside of a BB comparison is so out there that I'm confident you're either trolling or have trouble functioning in everyday life.

@doomdizzle: Ahhh the old goalpost move. I see it coming before you can even try it. Look, BB, UC4, and GoW are all third person single player games. BB is a bit different, but let's not act as if it's something unique. But I'll give you BB. That still doesn't address the fact that UC, HZD, GoW DE, TO 1886, TLOU, etc... all look and play much alike.

You're the one moving goal posts. From the same genre and playing exactly alike to "all look and play much alike" The only valid comparison is all those games are third person. Outside of that they are very different from settings, combat, story, and even quality in the case of TO1886 i wouldn't touch that game if it was free.

To say GoW and TLOU play alike is just asinine. All you're going to do is make superficial comparisons. Nothing of merit really crosses over between these titles.

The game is just awesome. I have nothing negative to say about it so far other than that I wish it were a new ip. Of course, that could change as I get further.

Keep playing. Cory wasn't joking when he said he'd start the game off slow and keep ramping it up unlike God of War 3 which had the best part right at the beginning.

Not only are there still huge bosses but the bosses are also better from a gameplay standpoint than the previous games which had a lot which focused far more on the spectacle than actual gameplay. Also loving the fan service in this game, certain moments have just blown my mind.
