Dead Space Remake comparison, Xbox wins!

Dead Space Remake | PS5 - Xbox Series S|X - PC | Graphics Comparison | El Analista De Bits

• Xbox Series X /PS5- Quality Mode: 1440p/30fps with VRS | RT ON
• Xbox Series X/PS5 - Performance Mode: Dynamic 2048x1080p with VRS | RT OFF
• PS5 loads the slowest of all versions @1:36 taking 18 seconds while other version take nearly half the time
• PC version looks the best with no use of VRS instead using DLSS as a performance saving measure
• Xbox Series X has a performance advantage over PS5 in performance mode, see @4:59 of vid.
• The use of VRS on PS5 is worse than the Xbox Series consoles version
• Outside of resolution and VRS all versions appear graphically identical

My take away, all in all Dead Space Remake appears both technically and graphically inferior to The Colisto Protocol, which at least was displaying a very impressive use of ray-tracing as DF covered, while the use of RT shown in Dead Space Remake appears average at best.

Also the use of VRS is a horrible solution for performance saving (don't know why they didn't go with FSR 2.0 instead) and causing horrible artifacting on objects of the console version (refer to @0:50 of the video) of this game.

Thoughts?

Just for comparison sake here were the metrics for The Colisto Protocol on consoles

• Xbox Series X/PS5: - Quality Mode: 2160p/30fps + Ray-Tracing with dynamic temporal reconstruction
• Xbox Series X/PS5- Performance Mode: 2160p/60fps with dynamic temporal reconstruction
• Performance mode on PS5/Series X has a lower dynamic resolution, closer to 1872p on average with temporal reconstruction.

They'll speak on it soon. This guy isn't perfect but he's usual within the ball park of what's happening.

This game isn't going to magically jump from 1080p 60fps to 1440p or higher in performance mode nor is it going to be free of those nasty VRS artifacts on console when DF do their review.

99% of DF videos is spent talking about Motion Blur, which so happens to be the first thing I turn off in any video game.

Drops to 0 fps constantly on my Steam Deck. I think it's time to upgrade to a ayaneo 😭😭

It has massive fps drops on my 3080 as well. Even dropped to 1440 and it'll dip down to 0fps for literally no reason. Hell, it even likes to do it when changing settings lol.

Must be that shader compilation.😈

I wondered why the analyst used DLSS *Performance Mode* on a freaking 3080 and above instead of DLSS *Quality Mode* or simply native resolutions

The Callisto Protocol launch all over again. I'll try to run it on my 3090 once I get off work, but currently it's a no-go on the Deck.

It's not the absolute worst, and doesn't suffer CP shader nonsense (pre-loads), but the fps dips are random and nonsensical. I was exiting an area and an enemy attacked and it dropped to sub-10fps... My fps counter had to catch up.

It's been a while, they deserve it.

Just played an hour or so at home on my 3090. Runs well with random little stutters but nothing game breaking. Running on Ultra settings at a constant 80+ fps.

Graphics dont hold a candle to the beauty that is The Callisto Protocol, but they're passable. Most textures are flat and blocky with bump mapping which is extremely noticeable. Physics are nearly identical to the original game and so are the monster animations. (I just finished a playthrough of the original 3 a few weeks ago so they're fresh on my mind)

If I'm being honest, I've not noticed any loading time for the PS5. Maybe I'm just not paying attention when it happens. :/

Graphically, though the game looks good, it's not graphically impressive. Demon Souls Remake still holds the title of best looking new-gen game, in my opinion.

If a developer cannot get a SSD running around the same for whatever platform, then they are probably rubbish or deceitful.

What kind of a dumb question, Karlos. To unlock the full potential of this kind of technology, it takes time, a lot of time. Sony is not yet ready to release it to the public, which i am OK with, and so should you.

I think comparison videos are nothing more than fun things to look at and for fan boys to dick measure when it comes to their favorite console (most games need a post launch patch)... but the guy referenced in the video is not some random, he actually does good analysis

Hate shader caching. Cutscenes often drop me to 20-30fps, and when the Kellion was destroyed, I hit single digits. I died once and when I went to the next cutscene (finding the captain), it played at the full 60.

It would be great if shader compilation can be squeezed in intermittently during moments when the game is not stressing the hardware. This would potentially eliminate the hiccups from shader compilation.

Yeah, that would be good. It's frustrating that it's by-and-large the cutscenes... I just don't get how some of these games are QA'd and something isn't done. It's not like it's a minor problem.

If gamers don't complain or make it an issue, it is acceptable.
