How so? It has looting, stats you have to upgrade, all kinds of cool items to find and areas to explore. It's even set in a medieval themed world, how is it not an RPG? What is it, a shooter? Does it have to be turn based to be an RPG?

I meant Demon's Souls mopped the floor with any game released in 2009, DarkSouls will do so this October and I stand by that statement.

Witcher 2 wins this year unless Skyrim (doubt it but I won't count it out) or Deus Ex 3 (gameplay from the leaked demo looks amazing) completely blow us away.

Dragon Age was the best RPG in 2009. Too bad they had to ruin a good IP with Awakening and 2.

Not taking anything away from these games but the most stand out feature of the games are the difficulty and setting. I like my RPGs to have massive choice and consequences.

I'll get it, but doubtfull it will be better than demons souls or the best rpg of this year. Demons souls was something completely different and new. Period.

I didn't play Demon's Souls so I wouldn't know but there will be some serious competition for that title this year.

I loved the combat in Demon's Souls, and I wish more action RPG's would take notice from the game.

Can't wait for Dark Souls, hopefully it will exceed upon Demon's Souls and take the best RPG crown.

It wont be the best one, but it will almost certainly be worth getting. I just think there is an Elder Scrolls shaped cloud blocking it's sunlight. I loved Demon's Souls though, I didn't think it was that tough otherwise it would have put me off, and a sequel has the chance to be one of the games of the year certainly.

I always like some DS recognition. It was, IMO, not only the best RPG of 2009, but the best game of that year. And I have really high hopes for Dark Souls.

TC as excited as people are I really don't think it will compare to The Witcher 2.

Part of why Demon's Souls did so well was that it was seen as fresh and innovative. I'm not sure Dark Souls will manage to have the same effect.

Am I supposed to call EYE: Divine Cybermancy a FPS or RPG? I am still confused (If I am going to call it an RPG, then that will probably be the best RPG of 2011).

Either way, Age of Decadence (please come out) or Witcher 2 will probably be the best RPG this year. Guild Wars 2 is probably coming out 2012. Not saying Dark Souls will be bad though, it was interesting enough for me to preorder it.

I loved Demon's Souls and thought it was the best RPG (possibly game) of 2009, but I have a hard time believing anything is going to beat The Witcher 2. It's just way too good.

Since Oblivion screwed up so badly my faith in Skyrim is not that high either.

Highly doubt it... I would dare to say I'd enjoy DA2 more than I'd enjoy Dark Souls.

Xenoblade will surprise everyone and beat them all. Skyrim will be right up there aswell.
