Console owners, is it time to build a PC?

So you paid a premium. Newegg is also rarely if ever the cheapest place to get PC parts, hell Amazon regularly beats them in price and has faster shipping. If you live by a Microcenter than you'll save even more money and have parts the same day. I'm going to confidently stand by my statement.

@fedor: : Umm dude i spec'd out the exact pc i wanted, off like newegg sent email to centaurus computers and he was like ya i can build that exact pc, he sent me invoice and paid for it through invoice and he only charged me like 50 dollars more than building it myself.

I've been building pc's since like 2002, but i didnt feel like it this time, plus when you are sent parts seperately you are doing beta testing in a way, because you dont know 100% if the pc is gonna boot once you assemble it's a gamble, atleast with the pc already built it's been tested that parts are working before it's sent to u.

That is a descriptive term of all of the games that will be on PC that were announce on the PS5 show,do you see Horizon,spiderman,or GT on that list?

Not that all PS5 games will be on PC,so please share that link with US.

Some people just don't like gaming on a PC. I understand that. But if someone wants the best of both worlds, PCs are the best thing. MS exclusive going to PC. Most games announced during the PS5 event is coming to PC. It's just the best platform objectively.

Switching to PC as my primary gaming platform was probably the greatest gaming decision I have ever made. The possibilities and freedom of PC alone makes it better than console will ever be. I'm playing through banjo kazooie the jiggies of time, a fan made game, that is just incredible and only possible by PC

@Sushiglutton: you also have to pay for online and more for games typically. Plus PC offers literally infinite possibilities which alone makes it worth it

It's always time to build a PC :D If you have the money. No, not 20k...but about 500 more than the console.

But if you just want a box for cheap that will play a limited selection of games moderately well, then go with console.

Although with consoles costing what they do these days, I don't know...the whole "cost argument" might not be valid any more. Anything more than 400 dollars is a rip-off given how little consoles can do. Might as well go whole-hog and get a PC.

The best TVs are better used on PC. But I prefer Ultrawide monitors and a expensive ergo chair. Several times more immersive.

It seems to be the next logical step ,so why not go to PC gaming route

@pyro1245: a guy spent 5 years making a FULL banjo kazooie game set in ocarina of time's world. It is honestly one of the best things I've ever seen. 9 full world's, hundreds of notes, 100 jiggies I think. We finally got banjo threeie and honestly, I think this romhack beats the original two

No one is gonna argue if you subjectively prefer the simplicity of console but if we are talking which is objectively superior, it is PC in damn near every measureable category and I've been gaming on console for over 20 years. It's simply no contest

And the new set of video cards and processors soon. Get those once price drops next summer and laugh at consoles for the next 8 years without a huge dent in the wallet.

I got myself an Alienware Aurora R8 PC that cost $900. I never gotten into PC gaming though have over the years bought games that were only released on PC and filled up my Steam library. The only thing is getting used to a keyboard and mouse than a controller. I think one great thing about PC gaming is being to adjust the setting of the graphics card to display the graphics to it's fullest potential. I eventually want a PS5 since I am sure not all of Sony's exclusives would come to PC. I don't care for the Nintendo Switch though Metroid Prime 4 would clearly draw me in whenever it comes out.

This. The only thing you miss out on is the small handful of Sony exclusives that dont come to PC. I'm going Switch + PC myself.

I’ll stay on console. Most games I want are on PS4 and most my friends game on PS4. If more games had cross-play communities like FFXIV I’d consider it more strongly.

I will stay with the Switch and the PC, as the high-quality exclusives of the Switch (i.e. first-party games) will never be available on the PC or any non-Nintendo console.

Only if you can afford and still have a large lump of cash after spending. I wouldn't recommend it as this present moment, costs a fortune.

I'll stick with consoles, they've met my needs every gen since the Atari 2600.

PC,PS5 and/or switch is a very good combination depending on what games people like. If someone plans to build a PC i would recommend next year after next gen consoles come out. PC should be always 1st on your list since you have more uses for it school work and so on and its a good investment and easy to build

I’m thinking about it but I’m waiting on the 3000 series cards. I never built one before so I’m doing research and looking at YouTube videos. I hope I don’t screw up lol

IF the Xbox series X or PS5 is sold for $500 USD I could see quite a few PC gamers go console instead. The prices of the graphics cards have gone up to ludicrous heights. Like twice that for just a mid-high tier GPU. Personally I would still prefer PC gaming but it would be hard to justify at some point.

What? No. It is not $1000 for a "mid-high tier GPU. Nvidia can stuff it with their 2080TI business, but the 2080 and 2080TI are the absolute top eschelon.

An RTX2070 is only 400 bones, and a 2070 Super is 500-550. Thats "mid-high" to me.

If you have a close PC sales/repair shop, you can pay them to do the assembly/cable management... It'll cost you $50-$100CAD.

@Ghost120x: tons of good info online, but I'm sure folks here (well... in the PC forum) would be happy to help. Unless you're doing business with water blocks and stuff it's basically plug-and-play with maybe a little head scratching for a first timer navigating around the plugs and pins on the MOBO

I'll get a PS5 in the distance future depending on the exclusive I want to play the most but for now, I still have much to do on my PS4, PC+Switch is a good combo, especially with the Switch, I can take it anywhere which works fine for me.

@Ant_17: u could literally learn to build a PC in an hour or two. It really isn't that hard, it's like Legos. PC is significantly better than console tbh and I've been a console gamer for 20 years

PC's are a giant waste of money unless you care about strategy games, MMOs or Mobas. And anyone who cares about those already has a PC.

PC's are not a waste of money to me. I rather game on PC than console as I enjoy it much more. If a console was $10 and a gaming PC was $1500 I would still game on the PC instead. There are so many things I like about it better than just better graphics and performance, though it can have that as well. Enjoy your console but no need to hate on PC gaming, it just makes you look bad.

@NathanDrakeSwag: a 100 dollar rx580 8gb will run doom eternal with better graphics than xbox one x, your looking to spend like 600 dollars tops to shit all over xbox one x running doom eternal like a ryzen 3600+rx580 rig.
