Lol, you can pretend Xbox is winning while you're at it too. Xbox had the power advantage in the previous two gens before that too.
The PS4 launch as the most powerful console to be released. Please try again.
What I wrote was factual. Xbox One X has been the hardware leader since Nov 2017. The original Xbox and the Xbox 360 were hardware leaders for their respective gens.
Well atleast try and put these things in context..
The original Xbox released as an initial effort to break into a market that was already under a stranglehold by the Playstation and Nintendo brands.. heck, even Sega was still a factor around that time.. The Xbox console had virtually non-existent 3rd party support compared to the PS2.. hardware power was the only reason the console remained remotely relevant..
The Xbox 360 launched as the hardware leader and guess what?.. they ended up the market leader in the US and positioned themselves as a worldwide contender.. Yes, Sony completely bungled the PS3 launch (much like how Microsoft bungled the Xbox One launch), but clearly having the better performing console for multiplats, having a lower pricepoint, and tons of good PR did wonders for the 360 in comparison to the PS3..
And we all saw what happened when the roles were completely reversed this gen.. The PS4 was now the console with better performance in multiplats, had a lower pricepoint, and tons of good PR.. The Xbox One X taking back the hardware power crown was nothing but a band-aid to try and slow the bleeding in hopefully two of those areas: performance in multiplats and bad PR.. I think it's safe to say that those goals were achieved..
On-topic:
Tomorrow is going to be very interesting for the very reasons illustrated above.. but now there's a new factor to consider because this will be the 1st gen where the ecosystem you're already invested in will play a huge factor in your next purchase.. This was the absolute worst generation for Microsoft to lose so badly because due to persistent accounts, digital purchases, subscriptions, and 100% backwards compatibility, there will be tons of PS4 owners that buy a PS5 regardless of what the Xbox Series X brings to the table.. the Series X could be more powerful, the Series S could be cheaper, and both could have tons of 1st party content and it wouldn't matter because in the current "upgrade culture" we live in, the mass market consumer is likely going to just buy the next version console of what they already own.. and for over 100 million console gamers, that will be a PS5..
Time will tell but tomorrow is going to make that picture alot clearer..
