For me :

Stranglehold : I liked it better than Max Payne 3. It was faster , you have more moves , you have grenades , the game is more destructible and it at least has enjoyable bossfight battles.

True Crime New York City: pretty great open world which I have already discussed it to death.

Star Wars Starfighter: For me in some ways it was better than Rogue Squadron 2(It had some storyline than just playing some missions and I liked it's medal system much more than the medal system of Rogue 2) but due to inferior graphics, draw distance and it's focus on episode 1 movie this game barely gets mentioned.

Metal Gear Survive: needs no explanation since you won't believe me on this anyway.

Spiderman 2000: This game came out around the time that Superman 64(LOL) arrived and it's still the best Spiderman game. but people love to consider Spiderman 2 the movie as the best one (Even though that second one didn't have any difficulty setting, had worse combat compare to 2000 , worse bossfight battles , repetitive missions and worse voice acting compare to 2000) just because Spiderman 2 only had better swinging mechanics.

The Evil Within 1 : Discussed it to death already.I also like it more than TEW 2.(TEW 2 was also great but not as great as 1)

Resident Evil 1 Original 1996 version: I don't understand why people prefer the Remake over it. This one has much better soundtracks for a horror game, more jumpscares , has less backtracking compare to remake, better pacing(Liza trevlor was the most useless boss that was ever in a RE franchise) , you don't have to unequip weapons in order to run faster , harder than remake , cutscenes were also better. at least in the endings the main characters become dirty unlike Remake. (Opening cinematic despite being campy was also better than the lame "shooting the zombie in the head" opening in remake)

Just because remake has better graphics and better dialogues won't make it better than the original.

Original also had more enemies on screen compare to remake.

Disgaea. While it does have a cult following of dedicated fans, it didn't get nearly as many attention as it deserved. It stays one of the best SRPGs ever made and beats the more popular FFT in every way.

THIS!!!!!

The game has tricks that are time classic, from stacking to sideway tossing to reaching level 9999 in 2 minutes.

@Bread_or_Decide: Yeah, much better than Phantom Pain. COOP mode is much better than MGO 3 and it receives much better updates compare to PP.

It's always good to see some Disgaea love :) Can't wait for the remake. Ordered it twice from the NISA store. Once the CE PS4 and then the Switch for on the go. This will take me at least 200 hours xD

@ArchoNils2: Dude, Disgaea on the go is awsome!

Been grinding and capturing doods with Metallia in D5. I have 220 hours right now on the Switch version and i think 170 on tre PS4 version.

Got the Etna mouse pad bundle from a local store. NIS doesn't deliver to me.

I plated D5 on the Ps4, but sadly haven't found the time to play the Switch version I alsoown. I only want to play it if I know for sure I can bring up at least 150 hours.

PREY and Nioh fit the mold. I also think Nex Machina - while it reviewed well - was ignored by the market.

Others: Strider, Resistance 3, Tearaway (which is criminally underappreciated)

I'm not having a lot of time to play games currently and before I start, I want to make sure I have much more time so I can easely put it a lot of hours into the game. I don't want to play 4 hours this week, 2 the next and then not play for 3 weeks.

I also liked Doom 3. Imo it had a better villain compare to Doom 4 and it's gameplay despite being slow was enjoyable and it had better variety compare to DOOM 4. I liked Resurrection of Evil much more than the main game though.

A whole lot of old games and shmups, for sure. As for more modern stuff, Rodea the Sky Soldier (the Wii version), which was made b Yuji Naka and is the spiritual successor to NiGHTS into Dreams, and just the whole Yakuza series in general since so few have played them.

Castlevania Lords of Shadow 1 & 2 on the 360. Loved both but critically they weren't seen in a good light and fans of Castlevania typically didn't care for them.

I don't know about overrated, but these games are overlooked and they should be played.

Ever Oasis was pretty good (not like excellent, but good) and I had a really good time with it on summer vacation. Yet I don't know anyone else who played it.

The Settlers 7: Path to a Kingdom I loved this game! It's so weird to me that it's looked down upon like it is... The story sucks ass and I know other Settlers games were different, but just playing through the campaign was, again, a real treat during a break. Still holds up.

Dungeons 3 This was better than WFTO imo which was unexpected considering the previous 2 Dungeons games. If you want a Dungeon Keeper 3 I would advise playing this. The story sucks and the humor sucks but the gameplay is great.

Pandora's Tower was great, but as a 2013 Wii release I totally understand why no one played it.

I also really liked the 2012 Twisted Metal.

Not sure these were 'underrated' (because they scored pretty solidly), they were more underappreciated I thought... games like:

- Valiant Hearts

- Sleeping Dogs

- Child of Light

There's definitely more but I can't think of any atm.

Puppeteer

One of the most visually unique games I've ever played. The gameplay is also good imo. Not the best when it comes to platformers but still fun enough

There are a lot more but Puppeteer is the one that always comes to mind when people mention the word "underrated"

Got average reviews and the only people I knew that ever played it, borrowed it from me. Only got a 6.6 here on Gamespot but I had a blast with this game. Fed a guy to piranhas, impaled one on a rhino horn, put another through a woodchipper and curb stomped a guys head into a toilet just to name a few of the executions in this game. Great game.

It was harder, more enemies and the introduction of crimson heads made me very anxious. The addition of the 180 degrees turn was a stoke of genius.

I think the Remake improves on the original in every area

Freedom Wars. It's fun to customize your android partner and would've even been better if the audio changer made it to localization.

I'd sure love an AAA version of it for the home consoles even if it may feel closer to Lost Planet.

I heard that some executions were censored. I have also heard from some people that this game was better than the movie it was based on.

But it wasn't really that harder imo. You could pass zombies pretty easily on stairs(Since they won't catch you on stairs), Spiders were much slower in Remake compare to original one , the mutant plant(Plant 42 was it's name I think) was harder in original one and I remember that Remake would give you a powerful shotgun to fire less shotgun ammo while the original one only gave you one shotgun.

I haven't played the Invisible enemies difficulty but I have finished Remake on hard with chris without using magnum.

@dorog1995: My brother played true crimes LA to death, besides kingdom hearts he has never loved a game more. Also Spiderman 2000 was awesome it should of been the forefront for superhero games

Mine is Homefront revolution : After the patch its one of the greatest Open world shooters there is. The gameplay reminds me of crisis but opened world.

Day of the Tentacle: Great click adventure with a funny story that cross 3 timelines. Its super hard the first time around but after figuring it out you think that makes sense.

Dragon Age 2. I've finished it at least 3 times on nightmare or whatever the highest difficulty was but with a guide. That was at least 5 years ago. Really had fun with the gameplay and the ott animation looked great.

Too bad Midway went bankrupt and Warner didn't pick that franchise. (They were making a sequel but I'm not sure if it would turn out great since it looked similar to Gears Of War)

I'm not sure if we get another game in this style since most of them failed.(Even Max Payne 3 was a failure in sales)

I should play Streets of LA someday , just not sure about which version of it(PS2,GC or PC ?)

Homefront Revolution : I've heard that some guys that were responsible for TimeSplitters worked on it.

I would like to mention The Wonderful 101. That game has a better combat system than people gave it credit for. To be fair, the game doesn't do a very good job explaining how it is meant to be played but when it clicks, boy are the combos fun to do.

@locopatho: The tutorials that are in the game don't even explain it well at all.

It is a brilliant game though, it's just a shame it wasn't paired with more explanatory instructions.

Hostile Waters is always the first game to come to mind when these threads pop up.

It was a great game, with a surprising level of depth. Basically a First person RTS where you pilot/drive the vehicles as well as control squad mates, production etc.

It was also narrated by Tom Baker (Dr Who) which is never a bad thing.
