Best looking fighting game

I'm not a huge fan of fighting game personally but it's quite interesting to see the evolution of the graphics in this genre considering we used to play SF in 2d arcade and etc. But the current beta of SFV has really caught my eyes, the clay figure like art style and butter smooth animation combined with UE4 graphics did some true wonders. I've seen the latest MK, DOA, Tekken, Killer Instinct and VF, but non of them has nearly displayed a level of elegance and aesthetics as SFV, to me it's the best looking fighting game I've ever seen, the upcoming Naruto Ninja storm title could give it a challenge but right now this takes my vote, what are yours?

I prefer the look of Xrd and KI is definitely no slouch.

Street Fighter V does look great tho.

Forgot about Xrd... if there was enough funding, I would encourage Capcom to follow suit (minus manga bs explosion) with their next revival, which I hope is a proper Vampire/Darkstalkers game.

i prefer the KOF XIII 2D look.

That's mechanically for crossplay, literally all that means is they're locking it to 60 FPS in that mode, that has nothing to do with visually, offline play or even PC vs. PC play...

The game is going to look substantially better on PC.

Street Fighter 5 looks like plastic figures come to life.

It does, but that isn't necessarily bad. A not graphically demanding game can still play and look well.

It's also a big plus for PC owners wanting to play it, since it will be virtually identical to the PS4 version (lulz nyadc), almost all mid-low range gaming PCs today will most likely max it at 60+ FPS.

It's not even the best looking Street fighter game, in fact all the ones with 3D graphics have an ugly plastic look.

Third Strike looks the best with buttery smooth 2D animation.

You seem to think parity is a synonymous term for graphically, or the whole of a game. There's nothing to laugh at, it's going to look much better on PC, this isn't even debatable.

Of course this has nothing to do with the game being a semi PS4 exclusive?

Just keep bringing up the PC version, rub it and its superiority in.

@nyadc: Actually it is funny to bring it up. And yes, they are building the same game on PC and PS4. You can probably mod it or run it at a ridiculously high resolution, but it will be the same game.

2nd impact was actually a tad smoother.

I haven't heard anythng graphically special for the pc version uber res aside. Besides why would anyone play a fighting game on pc?

SF doesn't run at a superior 90fps so.......... Gonna have to say it sux.

Mechanically, in general. The game is designed around 60fps. Maybe higher resolution, but if you can't maintain a rock solid 60 frames t hen whats the point.

...Possible they'll be some enhanced lighting, though.

My god how much some of you care about which version will look prettier, anyway Street Fighter 5 looks terrific.

But to be fair none of the fighting games this gen bother me visually. Killer Instinct doesn't look all that interesting visually, but that's because

A: poor art direction
B: it's a launch game

Otherwise Guilty Gear looks amazing in spite of being weeaboo fighter (fantastic fighting engine, don't care for any of the characters lol), Street Fighter looks legit, Mortal Kombat X looks pretty good actually, albeit I'd be far more interested to see how Virtua Fighter 6 or a new King of Fighters will look, because KF13 is amazing looking.

Agree on Killer Instinct. I prefer the original.

....King of Fighters 13 did look amazing. Was wondering if capcom was going to go that route.

@gpuking: Those SS look phenomenal but if you check some of the backgrounds are not that detailed and as good as the models.

Go watch Necalli's stage with the sheep and waters etc ... youll see some lame blurry textures and while stage as a whole looks fantastic when you focus on different parts ... it looks plain crap in technical level.

Yeah, Street Fighter V is a gorgeous looking game to be sure. Guilty Gear Xrd always impresses me as well.

Well fighting game usually gimps on background detail since you don't really interact with them too often. But most of the stuffs in SFV still look pretty good overall tho.

KI looks terrible actually, the flat lighting, poor texture and 900p really put it below a notch.

my vote goes to third strike hands down. particularly hi res online version. Poetry in motion.

it looks superb but I always liked the anime looking fighting games more such as BlazeBlu.

But Street Fighter remains my favourite

Some people get mad when they are reminded that the game is not exclusive. "But but but they said parity. It's not like things were different every gen".

I would say my favorite looking fighter is Street Fighter IV/V ( They are made with the same engine). It was nice of Capcom to finally move over to a more 2d feel once IV came out and really gave the game a nice japanese calligraphy look. After that I really do like MK9/X look but that is mostly for the X-rays.

I'l have to go with Tekken 7.... I think that looks better....... but I don't play fighting games for the graphics.

Pics don't even began to make this game any justice, the game in motion looks beautiful, it hardly matter if they are sprites.

Anyway, yes, SFV looks pretty damn good...but personally i prefer the Xrd look so i'll vote for that one.

Any Arc System Works game eats it for breakfast.

Probably has the best graphics. Though many of them have great art styles like King Of Fighters, Guilty Gear and stuff. Why doesn't gpuking try playing games instead of technically analysing them?
