How long are you willing to wait for sony to fix their network isssues before switching to x360?

was wondering about that after reading the below excerpt from a WSJ article regarding some PS3 owners threatening to jump ship over the PSN issues.

Last week's outage came at a particularly bad time for the videogame giant. Many of its teenage customers were hoping to virtually punch, kick and choke each other in new videogames, including Warner Bros. Entertainment's Mortal Kombat, over the three-day Easter weekend.

Instead, many of them griped on Facebook, Twitter and even the Digits Blog. Many of the upset gamers said they wanted more transparency from Sony as the process of rebuilding its service continues. Others threatened to switch sides, as it were, and join Microsoft's Xbox Live service, which largely offers the same features as the PlayStation Network.

People willing to buy a 360 just because of a PSN outage are pretty short sighted.

A long damn time, **** i'd happily take a month off every year to dodge the xbox subscription, its just gaming - and online at that, there's plenty of single player and side-by-side options if y'all have friends.

it'll have to be down for at least the whole year for me even consider purchasing an Xbox 360. I have too many games for my PS3 to just suddenly abandon them all and switch to a console where most of the exclusives don't appeal to me. :?

I own a 360 and still wont re-upgrade to gold. Like most things on SW when its back up (and it will) this will all be forgotten.

Pfft, I bought a PS3 and sold my Xbox 360 to get away from a mandatory fee.

A month off for something that I don't pay for doesn't affect me any.

Nope. PSN being down doesn't magically make a 360 library of games that I want to play.

If this network outage is such a big deal to you maybe its time to start doing other things than gaming non stop :P sure im lucky i own both PS3 and a 360 but to be blunt with this amazing weather here i've been out more or less all weekend and when im in i have a bass to keep me occupied if i only had PSN.

Tbh theres no point in making a big deal, its not the end of the bloody world like some people think for crying out loud.

Never.

Some of us have lives outside of gaming and are well aware of the beautiful natural smell of spring air.

And we're not exactly stupid enough to be suckered into paying a subscription fee, when MP gaming is really not the end all be all of entertainment.

did 360 fans switch to the PS3 due to their downtime in 2007? NO so the same is true here. These media webpages are blowing this issue way out of proportion. It is merely an inconvenience for ps3 gamers. Some people that have subscription services have more of a reason to be upset but still it has only been about a week. Once it goes longer than a month then I could understand people reacting the way they are now.

If people are that obsessed and upset about this where they are going to fork over hundreds of dollars and a Live sub then they have bigger issues and should take a look at their life.

Im confused as to what you are trying to point out.

They never mentioned the original fanbase being teenagers. All they state is that many teenagers want to play versus mode during their break.

Since buying a new system is pretty expensive (and extreme in this circumstance), I'd be willing to wait a while (a couple of months or so?). I'd only consider getting a new console when it was down for a very long time (3-4 months) and there was little information on when it'd return.

The point is that the media still push out the idea that kids and teens are the main supporters of video games. The truth is that 35 is the average age for a gamer.

It seems to me theyre insinuating anyone who wanted to play MK was a teenager. Unless they are refering to kids on spring break.

But everyone get Easter weekend off :?

I've been out of the loop on this one. Just how long has the PSN network been down?. When do they expect it to come back online?. All i've heard from this is that Sony are rebuilding the entire PSN infrastructure, is this true.

remember last gen when online gaming was meh? everyone lived then, they can live now for a bit, also psn is free, i'm not paying for anything so sony can take as long as they need to fix their servers. i don't live on my gaming system, go outside, go hang with friends, other things to do then be in your room playing with people you don't know online.

I'm considering suscribing for live ( i have an xbox already) beacuse of this. at this point its a shambles things would be so much better if they gave us a time period when it would be back up.
