Poll Are you still a fan of Bethesda? (86 votes)

Yes 43%
No 27%
Never was 30%

Even though I didn't buy Fallout 76, I've been reading about how botched up it is, and it made me lose respect for Bethesda. They have had quality issues in their games for sometime, and it's sad to see that it wasn't addressed in their latest game. I've actually started losing respect for them ever since that story where their lawyers tried to sue someone for selling a game on Amazon. Pretty crazy if you ask me. What about you, SW? Are you still a fan of Bethesda?

Fallout 76 has nothing to do with me disliking them. It is with this that they release their games in a buggy state.(This generation the only game they've ever released which was appropriately QA tested was Doom 4 all their other games were broken at launch)

Honestly I never really was. I did play some of their games, but usually I got bored rather fast. Funny how Fallout Shelter is my fav. game from them.

Oh yeah, I’m still a fan of them. My interest in Fallout 76 may have plummeted however I still loved their previous games like Skyrim and Fallout 4 plus I’m very hyped for Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI.

Nope, I just like to play their main Elder Scroll and Fallout series from them. Bethesda is alright in my book, despite they got embarrassed after that Horse Armor DLC crap, I give'em credit for trying to be greedy but ended up getting humiliated in the end lol.

Sure. Fallout 4 was the first Bethesda Fallout I played and I bought it two years after it first released. It looks like it was fixed because I had no technical problems with it apart from slowdowns in the city. That's to be expected considering the amount of "live" objects (such as trash cans) that the game tracks and refreshes. I liked that game which prompted me to buy Fallout 3 and New Vegas. No in-game problems with them either at this late stage.

I have no interest whatsoever in the Elder Scrolls franchise. So, no loss for me there.

Fallout 76 is their online experiment, nothing more. I still look forward to Fallout 5 although I might wait a bit before buying it.

I always try judge each game on it's own merits and not on feelings towards developers. If F5 came out next year and was ace i'd buy it for sure.

They already said that it will still have the Morrowind engine, so the same engine used in FO76. Considering they add even more to the engine, chances are it will be even worse.

Hell yea! Big Bethesda fan. I could probably continue to play Skyrim for a few more years with no problem by joining different factions and trying different builds for your character. Haven't really gotten far into Fallout 4 yet but I own it so I will eventually lol

They make average/good games. Huge world, lots of content, flawed core-gameplay. Mods help.

I do think they have gotten a free-pass for making buggy games for far too long and that it's made them complacent. All of sudden, about two decades on critics are finally penalizing them.

Bit fucking late matey.

I'm a fan of their previous work, but not their current work. Both Fallout 4 and 76 are dissapointing. Them saying they're working on ES6 is nice I guess, but it's going too slow, and them saying that they're using the Morrowind engine yet again is just ridiculous and killed the hype I had for the game.

So, if you ask me now, then no. Not a fan. That goes for most AAA studios today. They all seem eager to sell out and **** up their studios.

Of course I am. The fact that their spinoff/experiment online game failed doesn't mean their future mainline SP games will. The criticism on them using the same old engine and releasing buggy games is certainly valid but that never stopped me from enjoying Oblivion, Skyirm, Fallout 3 and 4. Hopefully, the whole 76 backlash will force them to improve. CDPR has already set the bar really high for future RPGs. But I can't wait to play Starfield as it's going to be their first new IP in so long and will bring their successful open-world formula to a sci-fi setting.

Their games are aging badly. Their engine is bad in 2018. They continue to suffer massive game breaking bugs.

They have the balls to tell their fan base that Fallout/Elder Scrolls and Starfield will continue to use the creation engine because it’s cheap and their team is too dumb to use anything else.

Yeah I am.

However I do acknowledge the fact that they have never created any worthwhile main story in any game. Ever. Please fire all your writers and hire competent ones like when you had Obsidian make FONV.

Also I love Fallout 4. All I want to do is explore-kill-loot-craft, build my awesome settlements and fight off roving bands of warring factions. **** Shaun, he ain't my kid (thanks, mods).

I absolutely adored Morrowind back in the day. Oblivion released and I thought it was basically worse in every conceivable way, except graphics. The writing was worse. The gameplay was worse. The quests were worse. That one really started the hammer and chisel into their reputation for me. Then Fallout 3 came out and all my respect for them disappeared. Horrible game with horrible writing; especially after how good Fallout 1 and 2 were in that department.

I have bought their games, but basically for modding only.

I feel the same way about the disippointment of what I'm reading in F76, but I'm still a fan... Skyrim on switch is actualy the one game I've sunk the most time into this generation. I even passed Botw in time played.

Everyone has a stinker.

Morrowind was the first open world game and first RPG I ever played and it blew my mind.

I loved Oblivion when it came out, but in retrospect it had a lot of problems.

I enjoyed Fallout 3 a good deal, but not as much as Oblivion.

Skyrim I ran into some serious bugs and found kinda bland

since then, i've been more of a Bethesda skeptic than fan. Ironically I seem to like Fallout 76 more than most people because it retains the fun exploration of FO4 which is the only thing I really liked about that game. its still pretty mediocre though. Fallout 76 hasn't changed my opinion of Bethesda at all.

I do like Bethesda as a publisher though. They seem dedicated to singleplayer games and have generally stayed away from annoying monetization schemes

Never was. I merely find them "acceptable." I consider their games to be blank sandboxes that only really shines when modded. Their attempt to make anything grander always fail.

Still, at least I have higher opinion of them than I do for EA or Activision.

Yeah, that's what has me worried. When I heard that 76 has glitches that were in FO4, that were both officially, and unofficially, patched in that game, I was just left shaking my head. Add that to the fact that though Skyrim was re-released MULTIPLE times and Bethesda NEVER took the time to implement fixes from the Unofficial patch (I mean, the work was done for them), that means they must not care.

IDK.

At the moment, since I haven't given them any more money, I'm holding out hope that they will learn something, but I'm DEFINATELY not buying ES6 sight unseen. I'm gonna wait until reviews and all that.

Yes, because production values are NOT everything.

They still provide the best first person immersive open world RPG's with tons of variety in the gameplay department, and still offer the best mod support by far.

f*ck this forum and its obsession with polish > gameplay. I liked The Witcher 3 alot, but saying Skyrim has bad combat then praising the witcher is just stupid.

I'd rather an unpolished mess that can be modded/molded into something epic, than a polished turd thats immutable and limited.

I couldn't care less about Fallout, but I'm concerned for Starfield and the next Elder Scrolls. I've been a fan of Elder Scrolls since Morrowind and Starfield sounds promising.

I'm very disappointed in Bethesda. They were on a roll with all the great games they've been publishing and the good public reception towards Fallout 3/4 and Skyrim (despite their bugs).

After seeing what CD PROJEKT RED accomplished with The Witcher 3, Bethesda's open world games seem worse in comparison in just about every way I can think of.

I don't think production values are everything - if anything, I think the bugs make Bethesda games enjoyable, because otherwise they're just pretty worlds with bad writing and mediocre combat. And yes, The Witcher easily has better combat than the Elder Scrolls games - The Witcher 3 has better *everything* than Bethesda's games, except for customisation of your character's appearance and background.

But sure, Bethesda produce "the best first person immersive open world RPGs". That's mostly because nobody else produces first person immersive open world RPGs. They win by default.

Once you start comparing Bethesda's RPGs to other RPGs more broadly, however, their games have always been pretty weak in comparison. I'd rather take a broken ambitious RPG like Arcanum, or a limited RPG with a billion meaningful role-playing options like Age of Decadence, over another boring Bethesda sandbox with no meaningful choices, no decent writing, no ambition, and no polish.

No. Their games are the definition of generic and bland. Directionless, and while I understand their appeal is very much a "make your own adventure" type draw, the worlds they create lend me no incentive in doing so. They're ugly almost to the point of "RPG maker" class, the characters are hideous and unremarkable, and the world is riddled with bugs. I think a lot of this would be rectified with a better engine, but Bethesda appears too lazy and complacent to move on from technology over a decade old. Even so, their titles reek of a lack of any real talent in terms of art direction. Bethesda has always struck me as a very low-grade AAA publisher.....nearly all of their games feel exceptionally low budget.

They lost me after Morrowind. Oblivion was...horrible. Sure, the tech was, mostly, improved. But the game sucked.

BIG FAMOUS BATTLE - - - Six people show up.

/reads book "It's two weeks travel from X" - /Get to X...it's five steps away.

You could basically do everything with one character in one play-through. Hell, if you wanted the best stats, you chose the the skills you would use THE LEAST so you can get X5 on all your important skills before leveling up. Though Morrowind shared that insane system as well, at least stats actually MATTERED in Morrowind.

Haven't touched ES since Oblivion.

I was a big Fallout 1&2 fan back in the day. I did play Fallout 3 and New Vegas. New Vegas was passable, but it doesn't compare to Fallout 2. Fallout 1+2 were as much about the depravity of desperate people as they were about the wasteland. Fallout 3 was just a carnival, and Fallout New Vegas was just too rushed, and could have been something if given twice the development time.

No, I don't buy Bethesda games anymore. Even Daggerfall was a shitty, bug-ridden game only remembered for its artificially inflated size (random countryside between towns) and mouse swordplay (which sucked, trust me).
