I liked Conviction a lot, so yeah ill be playing this one as well. I don't get all the hate for this game. Its not like it's a dumbed down Chaos Theory, Spinter Cell is a completely different game series at this point, and I'm fine with that. Especially considering that none of the previous Splinter Cell games were really all that great except Chaos Theory.

But that's exactly what it is....
No, that's what Double Agent is.Conviction is simply different game and has some of the best action mechanics TPS genre has ever seen.
Absolutely. Just because it isn't going to be a carbon copy of the first three doesn't mean it'll be a bad game. Conviction wasn't like a traditional Splinter Cell and I still enjoyed the hell out of it.

Didn't TC make another thread the other day bemoaning the direction Resident Evil was headed in? What the hell is next? Chap needs to lighten up.
Conviction was an excellent game on it's own merits simply because of the change in mechanics. It was basically a Jason Bourne video-game and it was beautiful to play and to behold.
Everything was fluid and streamlined (read: does not necessarily mean bad and/or casual all you hardcore leets). It also had a wealth of other co-op modes that were brilliantly tense and action-packed at the same time. Depended on the way you wanted to play it.
If the last game had been a clone of Chaos Theory we'd be at the point where people would start saying the series had become stale and needed an overhaul. So the developers can't win. Gamers are never happy unless they're moaning.
I haven't been keeping a close eye on Blacklist but if it's anything like Conviction, I'm all over that sh*t.
Look at this game, It reminds me a whole lot like Metal Gear.
Kinda wondering if I should get The Collection while it's on sale.

Totally agree. Splinter Cell was already in danger of becoming a relic.
Where Conviction became action-y, it made sense with the story. The Third Echelon HQ level is a perfect example of how the mechanics served the story and not the other way around. Starts off stealthy where detection is auto-fail. Then it gradually adds bits of action and as the narrative turns, so does the mood of that level and the action. So beautifully executed.
No, I will not be purchasing the game. The fact that you can call in airstrikes, shoot unsilienced weapons, carry plenty of ammunition, shoot behind cover and not have a sound or light meter means this game does everything that shouldn't be in a Splinter Cell game. I mean, quite honestly if you were trying to be sneaky, and go unnoticed, why on EARTH would you call in a loud and visible airstrike?

It's a completely different game, so no it's not. The stuff that would have made sense in Chaos Theory wouldn't fit into the overall pacing and action of Conviction. If you want a dumbed down and bad Splinter Cell game then look no further then Double Agent.
this is true.
double agent is responsible for all this mess. they should have never have brought sam's personal life into the story, turning him from ice cold superspy to a drunken father in mourning and in the process destroying the great group dynamic between sam, grimsdottir and lambert which the first three games worked so hard at cultivating.
conviction did well to repair the damage introducing a new play style that worked surprisingly well but there was still a lot of unanswered questions. i'll still be buying the new one but every splinter cell released since chaos theory is tainted with thoughts of what might have been had they not gone down the DA path...
Only if they tune the a.i. for the speed and accuracy of kb/m. Conviction was a cake walk because it was designed around those slow fumblesticks.

GOTY.
Its tough to be picky these days.
Rather than being excited and looking forward to a game I just try to accept a game for what it is. Kind of sh*tty I know, but that's what gaming as a whole has come to for me.
So yeah, I'll probably get Blacklist and go through the motions just as I did with Conviction. When all your favorite series have bit the dust what else can you do?

Sadly I am :(. Go watch the E3 Demo, they call in an airstrike. :|

Sure I'll get it. It may not be the same series I loved so much, but Conviction was still worth playing. The campaign sucked, but Deniable Ops was fun.
I'll pick it up when it hits the bargain bin.

How so?
If it wasn't for the change in voice actors I'd definitively say yes. The return of cool gadgets, support, more open stealth, more creative stealth and keeping the fast paced action of Conviction seems nice and a great way to merge classic and new Splinter Cell.
But I REALLY hate that they replaced Michael Ironside. So yeah I'll play it.
Lolno. It's like Ubisoft heard all the feedback from Conviction and did exactly what people didn't want. Stupid, stupid Ubisoft.The_RedLionOr maybe, just maybe that wasnt "all" the feedback. It was reviewed well, sold well, and some of us had a lot of fun with it. To each their own, but do you really think everyone sees it your way?

suggesting the only alternative to blacklist's current form is a clone of chaos theory.
I was applauding the part related to Conviction which was a very good game. I am sceptical of BlackList.
