Is Splinter Cell dead to you or are you very interested in this game and going to buy it?

Me personally, I don't want it. It looks like crap already. It plays more like Conviction (which was crap) but WORSE!!!!

but then.... Spies v. Mercs was announced for it, sooo I'll be looking what they are changing in SvM before making a judgetment of buying, even though the single player and most likely COOP, will be poop!

Watch them give lethal weapons to the spies. Oh dear....

Thoughts?

Lolno. It's like Ubisoft heard all the feedback from Conviction and did exactly what people didn't want. Stupid, stupid Ubisoft.

Goyoshi12

They just chose the non-stealth way in the E3 demo.

They said you can choose to do full stealth in the game.

And aren't you interested in the story? I remember getting conviction, super excited to kill whoever killed sams daughter, only to find she lived!

And double agents story was great too, because at the end I figured out the whole thing was a flashback and he was talking to the agent on the phone after he went rogue.

probably. it releases march 29th(5 days after my b-day) i wont have to pay for it.

though my two cents on conviction

it was a stealth game like the others

but with the action element,it didn't punish you for it

people didn't like that

and there was infiltration mode for that.

1. That's really bad marketing then if you're marketing a STEALTH ACTION FRANCHISE then.

2. I really doubt that, I remember an interview and they said they were really focusing on the run, lock on, then shoot mechanic of the game. Could be wrong, but, I don't know.

Spoilers man, I was planning on playing conviction soon . I'm guessing you mentioned a spoiler for double agent as well but I stopped reading after the first one lol I won't blame ya for the double agent one tho since its an older game, but still

I've bought every single one on launch day (except the handheld games) and honestly I enjoyed conviction (not as much as the older ones) but the replay value was pathetic. If they somehow don't screw up spies vs mercs then it will be a great game regardless of the single player. I just hope the spies vs mercs is actually like pandora tomorrow or chaos theory and not some lame ass fps/tps bs with perks

I'm not entirely sure it's a stealth game. It looked very action focused and not tacticle based like stealth games are supposed to be. Stealth games are about being vulnerable to enemies, but at the same time being very deadly.

It's about observing your environment and planning the best course of action, do you kill that person or do you sneak by? Are there other routes you can find? What is your escape plan? All these things are what stealth requires, the demo for black list had none of that.

It was too easy, and didn't feel like a stealth game. It was more flash than real substance.

But it was alright overall I guess.

Absolutely. Just because it isn't going to be a carbon copy of the first three doesn't mean it'll be a bad game. Conviction wasn't like a traditional Splinter Cell and I still enjoyed the hell out of it.

Its not like it's a dumbed down Chaos Theory, Spinter Cell is a completely different game series at this point, and I'm fine with that. Especially considering that none of the previous Splinter Cell games were really all that great except Chaos Theory.

I don't see how Conviction is not a stealth game. The developers gave you more options and tactics to accomplish your task. They also made it so that if you were spotted by the bad guys, you can fight your way out of the situation and have fun doing so. If you were spotted in any of the previous Splinter Cell games, it was absolutely frustrating to survive and it penalized you severely if you made such a screw up.

Nope. Didn't hate Conviction and that took a good step over the 'stealth to action' line, this looks outrageously action oriented which is a bit lacking in what Splinter Cell so damn great to begin with.

I don't see how Conviction is not a stealth game. The developers gave you more options and tactics to accomplish your task. They also made it so that if you were spotted by the bad guys, you can fight your way out of the situation and have fun doing so. JangoWuzHere
Sam Fisher is quite literally a raging bull in it. It's not about being unseen it's about murdering guys in the most efficient if not brutal way possible (those lovely interrogations); it was more of a tactical hunting game then it was actual stealth. Which isn't to say it was bad for what it was; it had some really glaring problems, but it was quite good. The previous Splinter Cell games however were far more contemplative and centred around sneaking plus an abundance of good gadgets - like Thief in a modern day setting. It wasn't a game about fighting whereas Conviction is so much about fighting that there's the takedown 'press X to win' button (which I honestly think is a bit of a blunder thing, even if it serves a purpose).

I enjoyed Conviction, but this looks a step too far into the action boundry.

That being said, there are a lot of cool mechanics in the game, and hopefully the leve we were shown at E3 was a rare event in the game

play it how you want to play it, the stealth option remains and ubisoft has said the game can be played COMPLETELY in stealth.

But that's exactly what it is....

It's a completely different game, so no it's not. The stuff that would have made sense in Chaos Theory wouldn't fit into the overall pacing and action of Conviction. If you want a dumbed down and bad Splinter Cell game then look no further then Double Agent.

I don't think so since it isn't about stealth anymore. It seems that the game revolves around casuals now where it is easy to complete and filled with action.

Such a shame. I really don't like the direction gaming is heading...

I liked Conviction but I'll probably get this when it's cheap. I felt that gameplay of Conviction made sense when the story is considered. However, there seems to be a mismatch in this case and that mark and execute feature looks overpowered in this one. I actually didn't like that feature in Conviction, made the game way too easy.
