Are you a fanboy?

I am a fanboy, however I'm a different type of fanboy than most.

I'm an anti-Microsoft fanboy.

My SO works at Nintendo and she says that's a common phrase thrown around the workplace, and I thought it made a lot of sense as to how I think myself. I do own original Xbox consoles as well as Xbox 360 consoles, but I won't be buying anymore Xbox related things.

I love PC gaming. I love PlayStation handheld and home console gaming. I probably love Nintendo handheld and home console gaming more than anything. I figure, I can't really be labeled your standard fanboy if I don't defend one company like a fanboy is defined as. It really just comes down to the fact that I don't like Xbox, more specifically, Xbox One.

The original Xbox was the worst of the 3 consoles that gen, and the only reason I bought an Xbox 360 was to be able to say I owned one since I bashed it so much on here last gen. I probably played it for 30 hours total. I didn't like it at all.

As for the Xbox One, it doesn't interest me in the slightest. Microsoft is way too anti-consumer these days and I don't want to give them any of my money. I think their system is garbage with how large it is while still requiring a power brick and delivering under-performing multiplats. I don't see how that is even possible. The exclusives are nothing to write home about and that's all they have to go off of.

I've always considered Kinect the worst gimmick in the video game industry because it is. Still using AA batteries to power controllers is beyond pathetic. Having to buy a rechargeable battery in addition to a new controller when it should come included as standard is also beyond pathetic.

Overall, my opinion on the matter is that the Xbox division is one that doesn't care about games or gamers, all they care about is the bottom line. They nickel and dime you in every way and make it perfectly clear that they don't care about what us as gamers want. Sure, all the gaming companies are companies first and care about $$, but no one makes it as obvious as Microsoft and for that reason I'm boycotting them.

Yup. I only got one system, and I will defend it to death. Nothing wrong with that. It's just how nature works.

I own and play all three of the major consoles regularly but my preference is to PlayStation. Heck, I sometimes make fun of the Xbox One and Wii U for no reason at all. That said I won't defend any platform especially if the facts from an argument are there.

Does that make me a fanboy? You tell me because I'm actually not sure myself.

When it comes down to consoles/systems I prefer to own all of them (I might tend to favor one over the others). As for game series there's a few series that I'm a fanboy with like LoZ, Elder Scrolls, RE, Metroid, Mortal Kombat, ME and The Witcher.

This is the way I look at it and it holds true for basically every console generation and has not changed here, one console was always going to be more powerful than the other, it's essentially an inevitability. Has the power discrepancy really caused any problems? No, not outside of over-dramatics.

If power is what you crave then you should go PC. None of these consoles are particularly powerful.

This is also very true, I didn't buy my Xbox One or PlayStation 4 because I was expecting a graphical feast, they're pre-made consumer level boxes with no upgradability, they get graphically surpassed quickly.

Yes, you guys heard that right. The only reason I bought an Xbox 360 last gen was so that I could say I owned one when bashing it. Whenever I'd make threads that pointed out the 360's flaws, no matter how factual or logically sound, the fact that I didn't own one was always a point of emphasis. I ended up buying one, a slim, and I still have it along with over 50 games for it.

I think the part that cracks me up is you're proud enough to type it in bold. Its one thing to be a cow, lem, sheep, hermit. We all have things we like and are fans of. I just play on the system I prefer which is PC. Due to my limited time, the PC is pretty much the only system I play these days. That doesn't mean I'm a PC fanboy.
