I love the Vita and the 3DS and both are equally good, but compared to the Vita, I feel like the 3DS's hardware isn't as good.
However, the 3DS has so many good games it doesn't even matter.
Do you think software is more important than hardware?

I think the software is more important, but judging by the current sales of the consoles, I'm clearly in the minority.
ironically, in the case of handhelds i'd go for software over hardware any day. ironic because it conflicts with my sig.

nah... remember there are MANY MANY more people who are waiting for the new consoles to be worth a damn before jumping in than there are early adoptors... X1 and PS4 sux right now... that will change though.
Consoles have been proving this point for years, the PS2 is a fine example, it was the weakest console but had a better library so it beat out everything else.
This is why I've transitioned to PC lately though, it has the hardware and the software.

People are buying PS4s all over the place, but I'm waiting to see if the developers hold up to their word on what they're developing *coughVitacough*
Software has proven time and time again to be more effective. The PS3 and Vita both had superior hardware compared to Nintendo's Wii and the 3DS. Most people don't care about the specs, they care about the games they get to play
both is CLEARLY importation BUT software is FAR MORE
you can have the biggest power house but if you got shit software you can **** off all day long
Well, I have to buy the hardware before I can play the software. If the hardware is shit, then I just wont be playing the games because I dont want to spend $250 on junk.
They equally matter. You can't play the greatest games on a potato now can you?
But that superior hardware will mean jackshit when you don't have the software to play on it... (a la Vita)
That's my point. Did I really need to add ''Vice Versa''?
Yeah, I do, thus Vita > 3DS.
I think you inverted the symbol
Vita <<<<< 3ds
I think that the 3DS has many less great games than the Vita.
Vita games >>>>> 3DS games
How should I say it... How about this way?
Did I stutter?
Games themselves are more important than hardware? Welcome to the club called "real gamers" because real gamers know that if a game is good or bad its because the game itself is good or bad. Real gamers play games, they don't play systems. The hardware is just a means to an end.
Anyone who doesn't think software is more important than hardware is an idiot.
This. 100% this
I think after we got to the XBOX, Gamecube, PS2 era hardware specs became pointless. It all looked good enough. the 360, PS3, and Wii U specs were good enough as well obviously. I could of games on those specs the rest of my life.
Now days PS4, XBONE, and PC games all look the same to me. Maybe seeing PC games on the high end with Godly resolution still impresses me but for the most part, it all looks good now.
So yes. Software is way more important. And right now only Nintendo and Microsoft is bringing it. But Sony has some good stuff coming.
Software by far, and its not even close. I could give less than a damn whats under the hood if the games suck. But if the games are fun that's all that matters to me. I don't get caught up in specs. If I did I would just game PC only and always have the best. But software is why the Xbox One right now appeals to me so much no matter whats under its hood.
Software first
Hardware second.
Yes, software is way more important. Is hardware nice to have? Of course. But if hardware were more important, then the PS3 would have sold more than the Wii, the GameCube would have sold more than the PS2, and the N64 would have sold more than the PS1.

I was watching a video of Dead Rising 3 and for a second I forgot it was a Xbone game (kinda looked 360ish from what I saw). But my thoughts are yours exactly, after the Xbox/PS2/GC era, the graphics started to seem kind of pointless.
