Ace Attorney has better stories than Metal Gear Solid

Before you attack me for this, the Metal Gear Solid stories are better than Ace Attorney ones. However, MGS has horrible pacing and while the writing is good, it could be better. But Ace Attorney has good stories, good pacing, and incredibly good writing, and while the stories are not as good as MGS, it tells you the story much better than Metal Gear Solid can. If you understand what I mean, feel free to explain why you agree/disagree. And if you don't, flame away.

MGS story is terrible. I love the games, but the only thing I enjoy is the characters, music and cinematic presentation.

hi I like to compare a DS court game to a PS3 stealth action shooter and say the DS game has a better story..but not really but it does but not really

listen dude I adore both series but its comparing oranges to lemons they are 2 completely different games I would understand a splinter cell vs MGS story line or a hotel dusk vs ace attorney but this is a horrible horrible thread

Indeed it does. The Ace Attorney localization team is fantastic, making great references to pop culture and creating a genuinely humorous cast of characters that's foreign yet familiar at the same time. Metal Gear Solid is pretentious, not clever and is in a genre less suited to narrative; the ridiculously long cutscenes are proof of that.

It is true. Cows will deny it, but the stories in the Ace Attorney series(especially the Phoenix Wright Trilogy) are better than those in Metal Gear Solid.

Well some people like a simple story. On the AA thing well thats a point and click adventure game. Those are like 80%-90% story and 10%-20% gameplay.

Anyway, people who are trying to use GameRanking scores and what not to justify the story being better, more goes into a game than just a story. Ace Attorney's most common criticism is that it's too story-dependent and leaves too little to the player.

This is from GameSpot's review of D2 for the Dreamcast:

Kenji Eno has created one of the most engaging stories of all time and given it support in every way possible, except the one that matters most: gameplay. Still, with an A+ story, uniquely mature visuals, and a glowing soundtrack, D2 is a game to be highly recommended, provided you don't mind a weekend rent.GameSpot

This goes to show, all the story in the world won't make it a good game. It got a 6.2

"See Dick Run" is a better story than the MGS series. Sorry, but MGS excells in tactical espionage, the story is garbage and has been since MGS2.

I haven't beaten the MGS games but I have beaten all Ace Attorney games and the stories are amazing!

I absolutely love Ace Attorney games and I'm willing to bet the Ace Attorney storyline is better than the MGS one (I've played through most of MGS 1 and have played the other 3). I can't say for sure, I haven't beaten all the games in the MGS series but the Ace Attorney series just had a huge affect on me.

TC, ussallly adventure titles are told better because the way they designed.

Am I the only one that actually like MGS2's story better than MGS4's? Don't get me wrong. ..Actually, that's the least funny part of that statement.

The Ace Attorney has some pretty terrible plots, backed up with ridiculous dialogue and bad humor. As for pacing it is definitely not better than MGS, evident by how long it takes to go through a single case. In a way it works for a handheld game but leaves a lot to be desired for one that's suppose to be story-driven.

MGS isn't the best but using Ace Attorney as proof pretty much fails.
