A note for console gamers about 4k

That's a deflection. I'm not going to say that the XBOX One X is irrelevant because an overwhelming number of console gamers don't own one. ITT M3 and others hardly take a position regarding a typical console/dispaly setup. If we're limited to what's typical, then 4k isn't even a thing for consoles.

@MBirdy88: Don't forget that there are hundreds of millions of PC gamers so even if only 1% them use cards capable of playing games at 4k 60fps max settings that is still a lot and definitely a lot more than the number of PS4 Pros and Xbox One Xs.

PC gaming has been such a joke since Crysis. That was the only big AAA game that forced people to buy new hardware.

Where is the next big PC game/Crysis? I am rocking a GTX 745/i7/16GB Ram and I can play pretty much everything. I see no PC game on the horizon or coming soon that will make me upgrade.

Every PC Gamer has Steam, there’s 125-150 million active steam accounts.

1% of 150 million is 1.5 million.

... and that is why you have the wrong priorities and play on a peasant box. Performance should always come first and foremost as it directly affects the gameplay and feel of the game. Graphics should always be secondary. If you have a good gaming PC, you don't have to compromise.

Second place fidelity... LOL. Most console games don't run at the highest PC settings. Also, PC has HDR and Atmos support just like the X1X. It may not have as many supported titles right now, but that will change over time. The shit performance and CPU bottleneck of current consoles is not going to change over time, so you are fucked.

As far as compromises go... any sensible gamer will gladly sacrifice other things to achieve a good frame rate. You just have your head too far up your ass to see that.

2. According to Steam HWS, A larger number of steam owners have a PC that beats XB1X or PSPRO than the number of those systems sold.

Digital Foundry continues to claim over 95% of multiplats this gen are better on PC.

XB1X has many games that run at shit FPS, no matter what you do.

In all fairness, I wouldn't be arguing if I didn't have experience of both ends... providing proof just shuts people up.

If I was a really casual person who had a passing interest in Video Games I wouldn't be churping up, but lets face reality here, you have low end marketed devices (consoles), then you have "what you make of it" PCs.....

Leagues apart in capabilities and gaming libraries, no boring Single Player Focused Scripted Action TPS games from Sony will change that. And no "early lead" on HDR will make me buy a exclusive-less Xbox One X that sacrifices so much.

These devices are so limited you need to pile all three to compete on paper, even then the crippeling walled garden enviroments and s*it backwards compatibility and lack of emulation cripple them.

It's not a hard conclusion to come to, peasants will always list that 3-4 games (that took 5 years to accumulate) as reason enough... none would admit they could probably find 20 games they like more on PC simply because of the shear variety and availability.

Since you are more concerned about how games look than how they play, you probably should just stick to movies as they look better than games. Also, PS4 has a lot of movie games that look great and run at 30fps for you. No Atmos though.

The better they look and sound, the more I feel like I’m part of the game.

I have a PS4 Pro, it’s been phenomenal. I’m a little annoyed at how loud it can get tho.

y'all subscribe to some bullshit. You care more about some fixed number and mistake it as a sign of quality. When you get nervous, you move the number, saying "Oh but this game does this better..." or "next revision will have more googlyflops...".

Why don't you care about the games? 1080p...4K...30fps...60fps...doesn't really matter much when console markets get the same crap over and over again. Meanwhile, PC is a relatively open platform, and there is a huge diversity of games.

Stop making 4K and framerate a selling point. Stop making it the thing that drives the market. Demand better service, better games, more diverse games, independent development, etc.

I really want consoles to do well--the better your games are, the better it is for everyone--but right now you are being led astray and it is ruining gaming.

Where did you get that $5,000? That's way too much for a PC rig! A $1,000-$1,500 PC is more then enough to outclass current-gen consoles.

All this "supposed" money spent on OLED and ATMOS (lets be honest, its alot smaller deal than you claim. as someone who has that kind of money to splash is not concerned with a 970 or 1070 if they want fidelity). You could hook up a PC to that same setup with the same controller and have a million more options.... with 1080 TI you would actually see the VAST majority of games at that fidelity... and yes, when HDR actually gets more love in the gaming world, more HDR.
