All MS 1st party show did was proving that resolution is meaningless.

Even a 12 tera flops GPU at 4k wouldn't impress if developers are not utilising that in a good way

No games felt next gen by any means

Halo in particular demonstrated that beyond anything else. In all fairness, it was the only game which showed gameplay anyway.

I think it’s obvious that MS just likes having bullet items ticked off their checklist:

- most powerful console ✔️

- diversity of games ✔️

- will games run on everything ✔️

- do we care if they’re pieces of shit? ✔️✔️✔️

I don't know what people are expecting to be honest. The Series X GPU is ~2x the One X. That's enough to make a 30FPS 4k dynamic resolution possibly 4k 60FPS. The CPU and the hard drive is the largest upgrade and that doesn't change the visuals.

Seems to me that while xbox is more powerful, they are focusing much more on performance. I fully welcome that and have to say, its about time.

At least it wasn't as bad as Sony's 30fps 1440p shows, and no games. Yikes.

Well exactly. Who needs a significant power advantage when you've got a handful of 1st party with wizzy particle effects.

If the developers focus on 1080p60 or 1440p30 they can achieve much higher fidelity. Native 4K is still too much of a resource hog gotta utilize upscaling, DLSS, VRS and other software tricks imo.

Performance is good but I guess PC is the way to go then, looking current gen on 200 fps.

WE done been tolding you guys... A RTX 2080 Ti with 15TFLOPS when overclocked to 2GHz can't do 4K/60 with SOME Current generation games, what on earth made you think a GPU on par or weaker than a RTX 2080 would be able to?... "console optemahzashun"?

Why do you think Assassins Creed Valhalla is targeting 30FPS?...

Unless the next generation console had RTX 3080 Ti in them 4K/60 with next generation features isn't happening.

The NVME in the PS5 will build worlds instantly with more detail than any game known to man...

I give up with console gamer's, now some of them are going to pretend that they knew this all along and weren't the ones hyping 4K/60 and 8K/30 FROM both camps.

I can't wait till game developers show of "graphics mode" in games with Ray Tracing features and the resolution drops to 1440p with dynamic resolution scaling at 30FPS with dips.

They did show tons of game play and some stuff that we know for sure can't be done on current gen. That was a proper show.

Targeting 4K is the real issue. If there is to be a big leap in visuals next-gen, then 4k needs to be put to the side. UE demo ran at 1440p/30fps on PS5. Lets say they optimize it further, you would need what... a 30TF GPU to run that at 4K/60fps? Yeah, not happening. 12TF is not even good enough for 4K/60fps on all current gen games. Targeting 1440p/60fps should be the target for developers that want to push visuals. This can be upscaled to 4K and still look amazing.

You mean 30fps. Doubling the frame rate is almost as difficult as quadrupling the resolution.

Console gamers don't mind it. Let them push the visuals as far as they can and let PC reap these benefits at 60fps.

I'd much rather have fantastic graphics at 60fps than OK graphics at 120fps.

For MS titles and multiplats, it doesn't matter if they are pushing the limits of the system because we can always crank it higher on PC. However, I don't want to be playing exclusives on PS5 at 30fps. So, as long as I can play at 1440p/60fps, I will be happy. I always want to be able to play at 60fps at a decent resolution and settings.

I don't think that is the problem here.

I am going to play devils advocate here, but i think 343 simple screw up,maybe it is a time thing, this game is say to cost $500 millions i don't see the investment here.

I think 343 hit a wall with this games, time ran out and by the time they try to do something on series X there was nothing they could do,i also think that explain the lack of Ray Tracing which even Spiderman has.

Is not so much that the game look bad,is the assets the textures, all look average is not something you will see on a game with ultra settings, and sure 4k/60 is a hit but come one BF5 look better than this in 4k by allot and runs at 4k/60 on a 5700xt OC.

I think time ran out and they were face with using xbox one assets, hell it even have texture streaming problems in many places and this was running on PC confirmed representative of how it would look on xbox series X,which by knowing MS mean 2080ti probably.

I still think 343 mess up thanks to MS wanting to keep the xbox one alive.

You got it buddy: TFlops don’t mean jack. They are a theoretical measure of how many floating points a GPU can crank out, but ignore every single other part of the machine. Even more troublesome: if your GPU outstrips you’re CPU? It just sits and waits for the CPU to complete its tasks before it moves on, which leads to wasted memory. The entire design of the PS5 is to prevent this from happening for maximum efficiency.

The XSX is like a guy who goes to the gym every single day and works out for hours....but only does biceps stuff. And he’s walking around with tiny little legs and a bad back flexing his biceps but he just looks weird and unhealthy, but hey, he’s got some huge biceps. The PS5 is like a smaller guy who spent 20 years learning Brazilian Jujitsu and rock climbing. Doesn’t seem like much at first, but an absolute beast as soon as he gets to work on anything.

Halo looks like a hot mess. 343 Devs should be ashamed. The texture work is flat and bland. Not sure why Phil showed this off to be honest. It doesn’t look near as next Gen as a game built by one guy.

The problem is not the hardware but mediocre developer 343 studio. Microsoft needs to close 500mill money pit 343 studio and invest in Eastern Europe devs in Czech Republic, Ukraine and Poland. Especially Poland which is the fourth largest exporter of video games in the world (2018 data), low labor costs.

There are 20 IPOs in this field planned for next year, Albert Rokicki of the Longterm blog explained to PolandIN. So far, over 30 video game studios companies are listed on the Warsaw exchange making it the third-ranked country in the world in terms of listed game developers after Japan and Korea. London’s exchange has am mere three, while the Nasdaq has a mere three. Those companies are of course giants on a world scale.

Will be interesting to see how many titles sacrifice graphics to the point of looking half a decade old for the sake of 4k 60fps.

One would hope they would at least give gamers the option to choose between a lower frame rate or resolution to at least play something which resembles 2020+ capabilities.

Power doesn't mean as much as it used to.

This is very true, a talented developer makes a bigger difference to the visuals of a game that 12TFLOPS of power will be better showcased with the only developer Microsoft have worth their weight and that is Turn 10, I expect 4K/60 from that game with graphics that beat every racing game out today.

Its why I lover Nintendo first party games, they know how to make use of low end hardware... I can only imagine what they would create if they bring out a next generation console with even 6TFLOPS of power.
