80K Units Sold In UK For One X

The first week sales of Xbox One X is over 80,000 in the UK, GamesIndustry.biz can reveal.

Retailers have shared data that reveal that Microsoft's new super-powered console has sold as many units in its first week as Nintendo Switch did in March (hardware figures are up-weighted 20%. Xbox One X raw data is at 67,000).

It's first week sales are also well ahead of PS4 Pro, which did a little over 50,000 back in November 2016. Indeed, it took PS4 Pro four weeks to reach the same number.

Of course, stock shortages of both PS4 Pro and Switch will have impacted the performance of those machines.

Looks like the One X is popular.

Glad to see it off to a strong start, quite happy with mine and very busy with tons of games....played FM7 and Evil Within 2 over the weekend mostly, they both look and run amazing.

That seems to be the case. It says the raw sales data is 67K.

Has been, but is in stock pretty much everywhere as of now. Just seems odd unless MS have been stockpiling units, usually with new releases of consoles it's out of stock for weeks.

Maybe, just maybe, for the first time ever a console manufacturer planned the release and made arrangements to have enough units available at launch. Either that or MS had ridiculously over estimated and it has massively undersold on their predictions.

I guess the answer depends on which faction you support.

Hmm, so far it is doing better than I had thought it would. Congrats lems, sales has been a game that hasn't been on Xbox in a while.

I guess we shall see if it continues with an upward momentum.

How many original Xbones sold on opening week in 2013? I'm curious, since I was honestly expecting sales to be high with the holiday launch period and all.

80000 shipped no doubt, probably sold about 1000 units to customers.

This is data from retailers. These are numbers sold to customers.

Not only that but the messaging was clear. The original One had a muddy message and was met with a muddy response. The One X has had the best messaging of any MSoft console ever.

I speak nothing but facts, and I am a professional gamer thanks to owning the industry leading and only professional console on the market the PlayStation 4 Pro, which sold out for months in the UK, unlike Xbone X that is already struggling to shift its allocation in its first week.

Those aren't bad numbers and it's only a week and just in the UK but...these are still "launch" numbers so we have to see how the demand will pan out after the launch flood of buyers have claimed a unit.

It will be interesting to see how it fares for the full month against the Switch with Mario, the cheaper Pro or base units.

Learn to read you professional gamer you! It took the Pro 4 weeks to reach what the Xbox One X did in a week. You fanboys are pathetic!

Sure, but the Pro had stock shortages in the UK for months and was constantly sold out like Switch was (is?) in Japan/US. I can go on any major UK retailer Amazon, Zavvi, Tesco, Game etc. and the Xbox One X is in stock.

Trolling aside it's difficult to compare the sales and determine the success of first week One X sales.

He doesn't realize most people expect it to sell well at launch. Hell the OG Xbone sold well at launch for $500, its the time after that initial launch hype that determines if it's a success or not and Xbone consoles tend to fall off a cliff after the initial hype. If it's still selling great after the holidays then they can gloat lol. I personally predict it's gonna flop hard after the diehard lems buy it this holiday.

The true test will be how well the X is selling after a month or so. Hopefully it will still be selling strong because competition is great for our industry we all love!

Only time will tell if Microsoft created a winner or a dud. I really like mine so far though and think it is a great console for the money.

UK numbers tend to be an early prediction of US trends. Elsewhere no, not at all.

With all due respect, a much better gauge of its sales performance will be in the off-peak. Like sales in February. Holiday spikes set the tone for what's hot and popular, but dead months are a lot better at weighing long-term market penetration. This goes for any product that isn't Christmas ornaments, Christmas trees, stockings, candy canes, or big white prop beards.
