that's kinda cool, but is it gonna have the same bc as the 80 gig.....
and also im just wondering if its worth 100 dollars for a bigger hard drive and vibration in the controller?
a huge HDD, no BC, and a rumbly controller? The deal still sucks people...
I'm not a fan of this. This is going to cause people to just keep waiting for the definitive version of a console to be released before they buy. That could take 2-3 years.
Yeppers, that is my view of this too.a huge HDD, no BC, and a rumbly controller? The deal still sucks people...

Sony released an official statement that there will no longer be BC in any future Playstation product.

Ofcourse for those of us who don't care at all about BC it's not that bad. But you're right about waiting, seems eventually we might get a definitive version. I had plans to get one around the MGS 4 release but maybe I should wait.
when is the GDC ??Ipik_FenrisFeb. 18-22 - I think quite a bit of worthy news will come out at this one !

Tell me, and any of you who complain about BC, what PS2 game do you want to play that isn't supported with the 80GB BC?
I see all of these gamers saying they want better BC and that the 80GB BC sucks but none of them state a single title that they would want to play that they couldn't on the 80GB.
I like this model, but Sony needs to commit to a set of SKUs and stick to it.
At this rate, you'll have consumers in a few years with 30 various versions of their PS3..."Mine has 60GB and full BC with Sixaxis!" "Oh, yeah! Mine has 40GB with DS3, and most BC!" "Mine has 3,650,103,513,000 GB and a super-duper Ultra DualShock 3!"

im not really complaining i was just asking if it is gonna have the bc of the 80 gig or are they gonna get rid of the bc....
i already have a 40 gig and ps2...im not complaining im just asking...

With the way you said it "its cool buuuut it has the same BC as the 80GB", you made it sound like a bad thing. Did you not?
Anyway, since you have a 40GB and don't care about BC, the question I asked wasn't really directed at you. Sorry if I came across as attacking you.
Full BC is important to me, actually. No full BC (as seen in the 60) = no buy for me.With the way you said it "its cool buuuut it has the same BC as the 80GB", you made it sound like a bad thing. Did you not?

It sounds good, but not worth it. I'll be getting the 80 gig though
AndYOU
You'd rather pay the same price for less HDD and no rumble? As it stands now, the 80GB is $499 and the new SKU would be too. Unless the 80GB is reduced, I see absolutely no advantage in getting the 80GB.

Reatailers will likely discount it.
Doesnt it kinda want to make you wait and see if in a few months an even better version will be out? I mean what is the averag life span of a skew now?
Personally, I waiting for the 200gb white version with full B/C, dualshock 3, all the ports and a faster Blu-Ray drive.8) ,oh and some bundled games.

If so, how much? Is a $50 difference enough to counter at least 40GB more HDD and rumble?

Maybe, depends on whether you care about those things.

And if the discount is more than 50 USD.I still think they need to focus on getting the price lower. Even if it means putting in a smaller HDD. I dont know. I'll never need more than 40gb with the features I use on my PS3. Lower price, more owners. Simple.Darthmatt
360 Elite ($449) Xbox Live ($50) = $499.....whats the difference?

The elite is a luxury, not a necessity for a console gamer...
YAY. another new SKU
why oesn't sony give people what they really want, and drop the price of the current ps3 instead?
BuryMe
Why dont Microsoft give people what they really want, a working system. Price drop? 360 Elite ($449) +Live ($50) = $499
